This year, man!
I’m extremely fortunate to have made another trip around the sun on this crazy planet with my crazy friends :) Surrounded by love, even through the hardest times, I really am so lucky to have my people. I graduated college, got one of my best friends married, and traveled all over the place! I got to TA a class about Slovak Immigration at Pitt this year, under one of my favorite professors, and share my own family immigration story with students in the context of our current political situation. I also got the Slovak minor, which is ONLY offered at the University of Pittsburgh and requires language and culture expertise, just like my Chinese degree :) and whether i’m bearing the new york cold or the pittsburgh cold, i’ll always have a babushka to keep me warm & remind me of my strong, female ancestors (and Babas and aunties who are my own) who passed on the culture & inspired me to continue to celebrate my Slovak heritage.
I’m really so happy to have had these experiences this year, to share my love with family, friends, students, and new acquaintances, and I can’t wait for 2026 :) Have a great New Year, everyone! Veselé Vianoce a šťastný nový rok! by @rozie.fero
