Last Friday, we set off early to Brussels with our church for a very special occasion: the name day of Metropolitan Athenagoras.

Before I started exploring the Orthodox faith, I had never even heard of a name day. Seeing this beautiful tradition firsthand, gathering for the Divine Liturgy, celebrating together, and sharing in fellowship afterward, made me appreciate even more the richness and beauty of the Orthodox Church.

Glory to God ☦️

Today I visited a beautiful Orthodox monastery in The Hague. It reminded me of just how much has changed over the past year.

I’ve been pretty quiet on social media lately, and that wasn’t by accident. I felt like I needed to step back for a while. Less noise, fewer opinions, and more space to pray, read, and simply be with God.

Looking back, this journey really started over a year ago. I began wrestling with questions about my faith. There were things I was hearing and experiencing that I struggled to reconcile.

So I started searching.

That search led me to the early Church, the Church Fathers, and eventually to Orthodoxy. At first, I simply wanted to understand what Orthodox Christians actually believed. I didn’t expect it to become such a personal journey.

I’ve had a lot to learn, and just as much to unlearn. More than changing my opinions, the Lord has been softening my heart.

I’ve received a lot of questions about my “conversion” to Orthodoxy. I know many of you are curious, and I appreciate that. I don’t think I’m ready to share the whole story yet because I’m still living it. Maybe I’ll talk about it when the time is right.

What I can say is this: this journey has drawn me closer to Christ. I’ve discovered a depth and richness in the faith that I didn’t know I was missing until I experienced it for myself. It’s difficult to put into words, but I’m deeply grateful for where the Lord has led me.

Glory to God for all things🙏 #dutchorthodoxy #orthodoxmonastery #orthodoxconvert #orthodoxchurch by @rrveld
