ten years ago today carolyn and I went on our first date. sometime around then she probably asked me what my favorite color was and I probably said a deep forest green.

today my favorite color is the soft orange glow from the old wooden lamp in our living room. the way it dimly lights our gallery wall of art and memories. the way it gives her just enough light to open her writing laptop. the coziness and comfort it provides on a saturday night after a long week of opposite work schedules. when for a few hours we snuggle up on the couch, put everything else on pause and get to be the silly, lost in love 23 year olds who talked about how one day they’d travel, own a home, start a family, overcome the hard things, enjoy the fun things and find their way through it all together.

happy ten years to my best friend, good job this decade 🧡 taken in Home by @rryanbutlerr
