When I was 8 years old, my mom passed away.

My dad could’ve let me bottle everything up.
Instead, he put a basketball in my hands.

That became my outlet.
My therapy.
My escape.
My confidence.

Basketball didn’t just teach me how to play — it helped shape who I became.

That’s a big reason why I started RTB.
Because every kid deserves somewhere to put their energy, their pain, their emotions… and turn it into something positive.

For me, it was a ball.

You don’t need to score 30 points to make a difference on the court. 🏀

Josh Hart is a perfect example of a player who understands that impacting the game goes way beyond scoring.

Sometimes your team doesn’t need you to drop 30. They need you to grab 10 rebounds, make the extra pass, hustle for every loose ball, and give 100% on every possession.

🏀 RTB TEANECK SPOTLIGHT: LURIA BOLOUR 🏀

If you’ve ever met Luria, you know that he always has a smile on his face!

Luria is a true mensch in every sense of the word. He’s the type of kid that every coach loves having around, not just because of the way he plays basketball, but because of the way he carries himself both on and off the court.

Coming from an incredible family, Luria has a simchas hachaim that is truly contagious to everyone around him!

I’ve always believed that the way someone carries themselves on the basketball court says a lot about their character, and Luria is a perfect example of that.

We have no doubt that Luria has an incredibly bright future ahead of him, and we’re so excited to see all that he accomplishes in the years to come!

Yesterday, Coach Dom spoke about how so many players are focused on getting their points and overlook just how important defense is to becoming a great basketball player. 🏀

Today, we wanted to give you a little behind-the-scenes look at what Coach Dom’s defensive workout at RTB was all about!

Our boys learned so much from this session, and it was a great reminder that being a great player isn’t just about what you do on offense. It’s about how much you can impact the game on BOTH ends of the floor.

IT’S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT GETTING YOURS.

Coach Dominique dropped a powerful message this summer that every one of our boys needed to hear.

In today’s generation, so many players are focused on “getting mine.” How many points am I scoring? How can I get more buckets? How can I stand out?

But here’s the reality. If you score 2 points and give up 3 on the other end, how much are you really helping your team?

Basketball isn’t just about offense. Defense matters just as much, if not more.

Great players aren’t just scorers. They’re TWO-WAY players. Players who take pride in getting stops, putting in the work on both ends, and doing whatever it takes to help their team win.

That’s how you grow in this game. 💯

🏀 RTB Five Towns Camper Spotlight: Michael Yosipov!

Michael is one of those kids who lets his game do the talking. An all-around incredible kid with tremendous middos, you would never know just how talented of a basketball player he is until you see him step on the court.

What stands out most about Michael is his maturity, composure, and the way he carries himself both on and off the court.

Michael has an incredibly bright future ahead of him, and we can’t wait to see everything he accomplishes over the next few years, both as a basketball player and as a person.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”

I’ve always believed that this saying couldn’t be further from the truth.

Our words have tremendous power. And unfortunately, when we get angry, we often say things out of frustration that we end up regretting later.

In a recent RTB shmooz, we spoke about the middah of anger and how important it is to control not just our emotions, but the words that come out of our mouths.

The next time you find yourself getting angry, remember that words can leave a lasting impact.

Think before you speak. Once the words come out, you can’t take them back. 💯

🏀 RTB Teaneck Spotlight: Zach Itzkowitz

All the way from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Zach Itzkowitz came to RTB Teaneck and showed us exactly what a silent killer looks like.

Zach doesn’t show too much emotion on the court. He just goes out there, handles his business, and can flat-out hoop. 🔥

Off the court, he’s super nice, sweet, and genuinely a great guy to be around.

One of the best lessons our RTB campers got from watching Zevi Samet work out with his trainer Dre was seeing the intensity he brought to every rep. 🏀

Within just a few minutes, Zevi was in a full sweat — bringing the same energy and focus to his workout that he would bring to a game.

That’s something we want our boys to learn: train with game-like intensity so you’re prepared when game time comes.

Every rep matters. Every workout is an opportunity to get better.

Awesome for our campers to see that firsthand! 💪🏀
