Pinning this so you know who you’re hanging out with 🤍

For years I waited for life to calm down before sharing any of this. It didn’t. So I’m starting from right here: working mom of three, architecture professional, building something of my own alongside the career and family I already have.

Three things you can expect from me:

1. The real version, not the polished one
2. Learning out loud, mistakes included
3. Zero pressure to blow up your life just because you want more

What are you quietly wanting more of?

Mom guilt doesn’t only show up when you’re working late. It also shows up when you want more for yourself.

I work full time and as a mom some nights I’d sit there thinking, “Why isn’t this enough? Why do I still want to build something of my own?”

I felt ungrateful. Like wanting more meant I was somehow loving my kids less.

It took me a long time to understand that it doesn’t. I can be a good mom and still be an ambitious woman with a dream. Both are true, and one doesn’t cancel the other. 🤍

I’m not doing it perfectly. But I’m doing it, slowly, in the little pockets of my day.

Follow along if you want to chase your dream with me. I’m sharing the real side of it here.

And if this sounded like you, send it to a mom who needs to hear it.

i found my old memory box and it hit different this time.

Do you still have things from “the girl you used to be”?

The early years of motherhood needed a version of me that was all in, and I’d give them everything again. That season mattered. It was part of my journey.

But somewhere along the way, the gap between where I was and where I wanted to be kept getting wider. Every single day. And I could feel myself getting a little more bitter, which wasn’t fair to me or to my kids.

Motivational speeches didn’t fix it. Kind words from people I love didn’t fix it either.

What finally did? The day I gave it all to God.

What changed after that?

I stopped needing to know the outcome
I stopped waiting to feel ready
I made peace with slow growth and disappointment along the way
The excitement came back, slowly

I used to hear people talk about surrender and had no idea what they meant. Now I do.

I look back at the woman I was just a few months ago and honestly? I don’t recognize her. Nothing comes to me except what God wants for me, and that’s the freest I’ve ever felt.

If you’re a working mom stuck in that same season, holding career and motherhood together and quietly wondering where you went, she’s still in there.

Sometimes the next step in your personal growth isn’t trying harder. It’s letting go.

Follow along to see where my journey takes me.

8 things to remind me to take THE STEP

One thingI left out of the video…

I have been trying to start this for years…sharing stories and my experience on social media as my creative outlet. I would start then give up…I would tell myself the kids are small, life is busy, maybe later. All true. Still an excuse.

What changed was one question: what do I want my girls to see me do?

So now I’m here. A working mom of three in architecture, sharing my real stories while I build something of my own alongside the life I already have. Between drawings and deadlines there are parathay and school runs.

If you’re an ambitious woman with a full life who still quietly wants more, you’re in the right place. Follow along, I’m figuring it out in real time.

Tell me one thing about you below 🤍

For the woman who keeps putting her own dreams last so everyone else stays comfortable 🤍

I used to think being a good mom, a good wife and a good employee meant shrinking what I wanted. Saying “it’s fine” when it wasn’t. Saying yes when I meant not right now. Keeping my goals quiet so nobody would think I was asking for too much.

And everyone around me seemed happy. I just wasn’t fully there.

Wanting more doesn’t make you selfish. Honouring what you want doesn’t mean you love the people in your life any less. Usually it means you show up for them as a fuller version of yourself.

You can take care of everyone and still keep a promise to yourself.

6:45 alarm, three kids drop-offs, and online for my full time job by 9. Just a regular weekday morning as a working mom of three.

I used to think I’d start building something of my own once mornings like this calmed down. They haven’t. I started anyway.

What’s the thing you keep waiting for a quieter season to start?

I used to think clarity came first and then the courage to start. Lately it’s been the other way around. I take one small step, usually a little scared, and things get slightly clearer. Not all at once. Just enough for the next step.

I still don’t know where this whole “building-something-of-my-own” thing is going. But I’m not waiting to find out before I start.

What’s the one step you’ve been putting off because you can’t see the whole path yet?

The internet makes this feel like a choice between keeping your job or quitting and going all in.

I’m choosing both.

My career gives me stability, income and experience. Building something on the side gives me creativity, ownership and new skills.
You don’t have to blow up your current life to start building the next one.
Working moms building both? Follow along.

Where are my ambitious moms at? 👀

The ones who love their kids deeply and still want the career, the growth, the money, the freedom, the health, and something of their own.

Motherhood didn’t make me want less. It just made me more intentional about what I’m willing to sacrifice for success.

If you’re trying to build more without missing the life you’re building it for, follow along. I’m figuring it out in real time too @rubab.builds by @rubab.builds

I’ve always matched with the girls now matching with my little man is a must too!
