In April my wonderful manager Annette with @multiethnicmgt called me and said I booked a role I auditioned for. It’s for a new show, a comedy on Max (my third Max project!). Not only that, I was invited to my first ever table read! I can’t express how nervous but excited I was as I have never attended one before. I walked into that room the day of the table read and saw at least 30 faces. It was intimidating at first but I just took a deep breath and found my seat and introduced myself to people around me. I had a blast! We read through 5 episodes and laughed non-stop for over 3 hours. Then my fitting was scheduled. And then the day came for me to shoot my scene. Crew was absolutely wonderful and took care of me (no one works harder than crew members in this business. No one does!) so thank you to all the crew members who worked on this show. But I really wanted to thank @tsrobinson23 for letting me play on set. He improvised and let me improvise and we bounced off each other take after take. It was one of the most fun I had ever had on set. Thank you Tim for letting me play. Thank you Gayle for booking me (again). Your office is wonderful! My episode should be airing next Sunday October 26 at 10pm. Please go support and watch The Chair Company on Max. It’s so funny and unhinged! #actor #thechaircompanyonhbomax #timrobinson #hbomax #nyactor #comedythriller by @rubatherese

I was able to catch the final screening of @brownsvillebred in NYC today. What a great cast, especially the young ones who carried this film through. What a beautiful story that was so specific to the director but also one that so many could relate to. I also stayed for the talk back and was able to meet the director and writer, Elaine. There is something so authentic to this film and shooting on location for every scene I believe was the secret ingredient to this film’s authenticity. Just really enjoyed it overall. And an honorary shout out to that final scene that gutted me as it hit too close to home and I sobbed in that theatre uncontrollably. It wasn’t pretty 😂

And of course, @javiermofficial you were perfection. In every way. Your screen presence is just as strong as your stage presence. I never get tired of hearing you sing and we were blessed to hear your beautiful voice through out this film.
Bravo to the cast and crew.
Please go support indie films. There’s so much heart in them that is just missing in Hollywood blockbusters. Thank you Elaine for sharing your personal story and your special relationship with your father with us. Thank you for inviting us into both your worlds; here in NY and 🇵🇷. #brownsvillebred #indiefilms by @rubatherese

To the cast and crew @curvesmusical : You are such a rare work of art. Although I’m not Latina but I related to so many of the themes in this show. What a beautiful and accurate portrayal of life in this country as immigrants and being othered. The themes of putting family first hit me hard and I found myself in tears. Even at 42, the guilt of leaving my family behind will always be there.

Fighting for what you want, fighting for your family, the realities of deportation (which was soul crushing) and taking up space the way this show portrayed in the number Real Women Have Curves, wow. I couldn’t sit still. I lost my shit. I absolutely did and was in tears. I admittedly cried a lot but also laughed so much because your show is so god damn funny! Also, can we give a quick shout out to the menopause song! As someone who’s entering that phase in life, that hit hard, too. I mean, what theme did your show not cover? RWHC, you’re truly inclusive in so many ways and when we say representation matters, you are a perfect example of that.

You deserved a much longer run. You deserved years on that stage. You might be closing but you left an impact and not many shows do that. I am sure we will see you back on Broadway and I am sure you will be touring soon.

Brava, tutti! You are a gem of a show and may we see more shows like this on Broadway stages. Best to all the cast and crew. Your cast was phenomenal in every sense of the word. And congrats to all who made their Broadway debuts with this show. Especially to @alinemayagoitia . You were absolutely amazing! Happy Closing and here’s to your next adventure! by @rubatherese

I know I’m fasting but f*ck this president of these United States. What a trash of a human. What an embarrassment of a president. Shame on everyone who voted for this fascist dictator. The amount of people and families who have been torn apart is sickening. Mahmoud Khalil is a green card holder and ICE took him and he’s now in Louisiana. What was his “crime?” Protesting the G3nocide in G@za. So free speech is not allowed here? How is this legal? How is this constitutional? There’s a petition going around. It’s in my bio. I don’t know if it will help but we have to try and do our best to help Mahmoud. Please sign and share. One last thing; if I ever hear anyone I know approach me and talk shit about Saudi or any other country while we have Hitler Reincarnate in office right now, I will end our friendship right then and there. اللهم استر علينا. استر على محمود خليل و مرته. لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله by @rubatherese
