Almost five years ago, we were wrapping up construction on one of @paraderohotels ’ most distinctive architectural features: the room structures and their bold, 100-meter closed façades.
Abstract yet sculptural, the architecture profits from the repetition rather than suffer from it, while hiding the sequence of spaces that allow the desert to be discovered once inside the rooms.
Paired with the extraordinary landscaping by @_aledelacerda and @anajucarvajal , this collaboration transformed the space into one of the most memorable experiences on site.

Located in the neighbourhood of Santa Tere in Guadalajara, Xokol is a restaurant in which the act of eating becomes a collective ritual. The architecture of the space acts a catalyst for the reinterpretation of Mexican culinary traditions and a communal dining experience in which the boundaries between diners, staff and food preparation are non-existent.

🌵 Arquitectura que se abre al paisaje y al cielo.

“Capilla Secular”, de Rubén Valdez Practice (@rubenvaldezpractice), forma parte de los proyectos finalistas de la XIV BIAU con una propuesta concebida para el desierto de Baja California Sur.

Semi-enterrada en el terreno, la intervención se resuelve mediante un anillo de concreto, un suelo de tierra natural y una cubierta abierta al cielo. Su geometría enmarca las montañas y el firmamento, construyendo un espacio ceremonial en estrecho diálogo con el territorio.

Semi-enterrada no terreno, a intervenção é resolvida através de um anel de betão, um pavimento de terra natural e uma cobertura aberta ao céu. A sua geometria enquadra as montanhas e o firmamento, construindo um espaço cerimonial em estreito diálogo com o território.

In the context of the Blue City research led by LDM laboratory at @epflarchitecture a series of specific architectural elements were developed to create a contemporary architectural research laboratory where technology and data play a central role.
The floor is covered by an immersive map of Lausanne as to offer a situated projection surface. A system of modular tables was conceived to foster interaction as much as individual work stand on wheels, encouraging users to adapt their working space daily.

Screenshots and images from the seminar on the notion of the “maquette” with the second-year Master students of @ecal_arts

The seminar explored the relationship between representation, making, and thinking through the concept of the maquette across different media, drawing on examples ranging from Bronze Age funerary vessels to David Foster Wallace’s The Pale King manuscripts, Dan Graham’s study models, and @anne_imhof ‘s Youth exhibition montage and design.

When gallery owner Bruno Brunnet invited architect Arno Brandlhuber to design an architecture exhibition at Contemporary Fine Arts Basel, his reply—“It would be better to exhibit what is already there”—marked a radical shift: the gallery itself becomes the exhibition. Nothing is added. The hidden is revealed. Spaces, operations, and relationships become visible, and individual authorship is erased. This photo shows my brother and me in the Pacific Ocean in Todos Santos, where Paradero now stands. I keep it nearby because it’s remarkable that we played in the same town where I would design and build Paradero and the spiritual enclosure 30 years later ! The stone beside it is from the island I’m working on in the Bahamas. The fluffy item is part of a bag made by my great-grandmother on my mother’s side about 100 years ago. She passed it down to my mother, who then gave it to me. @rubenvaldezpractice
