WHY YOU MAY NOT SEE US FOR A WHILE 💗

It’s been a month since our impromptu break began, & Ruby has officially filed a complaint. 😼📥

Those who’ve been with us from the beginning, cheering us on & helping raise funds for Ruby’s stomatitis care, already know I’m physically disabled. I’ve kept the details private because this is Ruby’s account, & aside from sharing the necessary bits for her fundraiser, I want to keep it fun & focused on her. But with things recently taking a turn, I wanted to share what's going on.

Thanks to a major car accident as a teen (why did I have to get in the car with that cute guy? 😅) & inherited spinal problems, I’ve lived with pain for years. I’ve endured everything from minor procedures to major surgery, including a 4-level spinal fusion with rods & screws to stabilize my spine.

Over the past several weeks, the pain has become so severe that I often can’t walk or even sit, & sleep is hard to come by. Thankfully, I have Ruby by my side, bringing a little sunshine to some very difficult days. ☀️🐾

THE GOOD NEWS 🌷

I'm scheduled for surgery this Friday! 🏥 I’m hopeful it will bring some relief & a relatively quick recovery. Until then, I’ll be checking in as I’m able.

HOW YOU CAN HELP 💞

I do have one little favor to ask. I haven’t been able to keep up with Ruby’s fundraiser, & I’m growing concerned about covering her meds. Her stomatitis care alone costs $200–$300+ a month. While maintenance meds may not seem urgent, keeping her inflammation & pain under control is essential to preventing an emergency situation.

We're finally checking in! 🩷

My back surgery went well, and I just had my two-week follow-up. Thanks for all the sweet messages and prayers. My surgeon and nurses even joined our pre-surgery prayer, and I thank God it went so well and there were no real complications. 🫶

Recovery is moving more slowly than I'd expected, but my doc believes I'll get more pain relief with time, so I remain hopeful.

Meanwhile, Ruby has been doing her best to help. She seems to think sprinting across the bed when I'm laying down is the perfect way to motivate me! 😹 As you can see, she's finding nurse duty extremely boring.

Things are finally getting more exciting, though, because she's promoted herself to PT coach! 📣 She's supervising my walks around the house from her seat on my walker.

You've heard of the carrot and the stick? Well, Ruby's the carrot. 🥕 Apparently, all the motivation I need is a little cuteness riding along with me! And yes, AI took a few years off my look. 💁‍♀️ I saw no reason to argue. 🤭
