In case you missed Reform UK’s Robert Jenrick being interviewed on @bbcradio4 this morning, here’s what he had to say about Nigel Farage: “He’s someone who’s probably done more than anybody else to stand against racism and the far right and to protect our politics from that over the course of my lifetime.” So I clearly haven’t been paying attention since 1982.

Day out in Devon with @jacquelineking00. Proof that walking really does stretch one’s legs…

Heaven in Devon with my dear friend @jacquelineking00 who introduced me to food security legend @ajs_kingsbridge, provider of banging lunchboxes, garlic grower extraordinaire and wheatgrass wizard. It’s ever so autumnal here and our takeout made such a tasty dinner in front of the fire. Tomorrow the beach!

So happy to be in Italy for the wedding of Ryan and Isabelle. A full weekend of celebrations included a fabulous welcome dinner at Florence’s spectacular Giardino Corsini. Such an abundance of love for this lovely young couple.

Fun in Florence while waiting for the main event. Everything in Italy is so terribly Italian. I queued 20 minutes at Vivoli to get an affogato for elevenses. I don’t mess about.

My top tip if you find yourself in Florence is to take a whirl around the Setteponti region on the back of Federigo’s Moto Guzzi U85tt. We covered around 100km and saw so many sights including a cycle race, a half-restored castle in a forest of sequoia and pine, typically Tuscan landscapes and villages, medieval churches, 50 million olive trees, caperberries growing wild and the Margiela outlet (not part of the tour but the eye sees what it is trained to see even when travelling at speed). It was so good to escape the crowds of Firenze for a few hours and see some pretty green. Highly recommended.

A fabulous slice of Italian life thanks to my lovely friends Mario and Simona who picked me up in Pisa and whisked me off to their hometown of Livorno where they showed me round and then treated me to a delicious lunch followed by a Ponce. That’s the name of the local post-prandial concoction of coffee, rum and lemon. We spent the afternoon at the sea (Simona had even thought to bring me a bikini and beach shoes) and had another Aperol Spritz as the sun went down. And then they delivered me back to my digs. Such incredible kindness. I felt I got a real insight into their typically Italian Sunday and the place they’re so happy to call home. Milioni grazie you two adorable people.
