Stop packing boring PB&J! 🥪✨ Here are 5 fun sandwich ideas your kids will actually be excited to find in their lunchbox:

⭐️ Star PB&J sandwiches — Cut your sandwich into fun shapes with a cookie cutter.
🍎 Apple “bread” PB&J — Core an apple, then use a small star cookie cutter to cut a shape through the center. Add peanut butter between the slices.
🌯 PB&J roll-ups — Flatten bread with a rolling pin, spread with peanut butter and jelly, then roll it up and slice.
🍌 PB & banana sandwiches — Swap the jelly for fresh banana slices for a simple twist on the classic.
🍓 PB&J skewers — Add little star-shaped PB&J sandwiches and strawberries to a skewer for a lunchbox upgrade.

Five easy ways to make the same familiar ingredients feel a little more exciting — and hopefully come home with an empty lunchbox. ❤️

It’s September! And we are at recipe 4 of my Trick-or-Treat, but Fruit series. Trying to prove that we can have spooky fun without just candy and desserts! All my fruit series recipes are made with fruit (obvs 😆), and contain no artificial dyes!

Boo-nana toast is a must save! Save this for Halloween breakfast or snack time in October. You start with toast, add peanut butter, almond butter, or Nutella. Then slice your banana in half lengthwise and cut zig-zags in the bottom. Add to toast and then add a face with mini and full sized chocolate chips.

Hope you make this! And follow @rubybyrds for the entire series, plus lots of other fun snacks and lunches made from real food!!!

Trick or Treat, but Fruit series 🍇🍎🍊🍌🥝

Follow along for my Halloween snack series made from real, whole-food ingredients — no candy, no dyes, no fake stuff. Just fruit doing its best candy impression. Think I can trick my kids? 😆

These recipes are perfect for lunchbox treats, after-school snacks, class parties, or a just a fun kid-approved Halloween treat that skips the sugar rush. New spooky season snack idea posted each week — follow along for the whole series! 🧡🎃👻

Trick-or-Treat, But Fruit — Recipe 6: Mandarin Jack-O-Lantern Fruit Cups

Here is recipe 6 in my Trick-or-Treat, But Fruit series, where I’m sharing fun Halloween ideas to make the holiday a little healthier for kids while still keeping all the spooky, cute fun!

I saw @sugarbirdcakeryfloral make these Clementine Jack-O-Lanterns and was obsessed! I made my own version with some fruit salad and my kids loved these!

How to make them:

1. Cut the top off a Cutie or mandarin or clementine (I one time called these oranges in an ice cream recipe video, and the internet roasted me. I still am not sure what the are called?!)
2. Carefully carve a little jack-o-lantern face into the peel.
3. Scoop out the fruit, keeping the peel intact to use as your cup.
4. Fill with your favorite fruit salad. I used blueberries, raspberries and grapes for mine

These would be perfect for a Halloween kids’ party, classroom celebration, or an after-school snack.

Inspired by @sugarbirdcakeryfloral’s original version — go check out her Clementine Jack-O-Lanterns!

Did you know you can make homemade gummy bears that actually glow in the dark? My spooky Halloween gummy bears are made with just 4 simple ingredients, including one you probably already have in your spice cabinet.

The secret ingredient is… turmeric! Do you already have it? Turmeric contains a natural compound called curcumin that glows under UV light! You need a UV black light for this to work, but you can find mini flashlights for under $10. I put the one we have on my blog!

Comment “GLOW” if you want the full recipe.

My kids loved turning off the lights and watching their gummies glow. Such a fun way to turn a homemade Halloween treat into a little food science experiment! I hope you make these!

Save this idea for a fun Halloween activity with your kids! 🎃

Have you ever made pancake ice cubes?! 🎃🥞

This is such an easy way to prep pancakes ahead of time for busy mornings! I made a batch of pumpkin spice pancake batter using @liveowyn Pumpkin Spice in place of the milk, poured it into an ice cube tray and froze it. In the morning, just pop a few straight onto the stove to cook! OWYN Pumpkin Spice has 20g of plant-based protein, is Top 9 allergen-friendly, and has no artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors. Plus, it gives the pancakes the best fall flavor. 🍂 It’s an Amazon-exclusive, limited-time flavor, so grab it while it’s here!

Save this for an easy fall breakfast idea. 🎃
