Remember when I said I had a hard week? And I told y'all maybe I needed a new book to feel better...?

I got 13. I feel much better 🤗

I'm not counting Between Two Fires, because I purchased/read it a while back on my kindle, but I found it on Pangobooks for a great price, so lets say 12.

AT HOPE’S END by Matthew Widener 🖤📚

I don't even know where to begin with this book.

Sometimes a book finds you at exactly the moment you need it. At Hope’s End was that book for me.

There’s a line in this story that I know I’ll carry with me:

“Faith is walking the path even when the light has gone dark.”

And my goodness, I needed that.

This story pulled me into distant worlds, tears in reality, and monsters that lurked in the shadows and fed on fear. The people of this small, isolated village were terrified of what was happening, but they had no idea just how much worse things were beyond their world—or how much evil was spilling through the cracks.

But what made this story so special to me wasn't just the horror.

It was the people.

At Hope’s End introduces us to four companions from different walks of life who are pulled into a fight between good and evil in a small fishing village.

Each one of our band of heroes carries their own guilt, anger, grief, and shame from things that happened in their past. And somehow, instead of letting those things destroy them, they became part of the reason they fought so hard.

They chose compassion.

They chose each other.

They kept walking into the darkness even when they had every reason to be afraid of what was waiting there.

And I loved that.

This book gave me body horror, monsters, strange worlds, an eerie and lonely setting, and a story that genuinely made me care about the people fighting their way through it.

But more than that, it reminded me that sometimes faith isn't knowing that everything will be okay.

Sometimes faith is simply taking the next step when you can't see the path anymore.

“Faith is walking the path even when the light has gone dark.”

I think I needed this story more than I realized.

At Hope’s End is the first installment of a dark fantasy duology, and I will be eagerly anticipating the second.

Do yourself a favor and read this beautiful book. 🖤

And yes… this is absolutely going on my list of books I could see myself rereading every year. 🖤📚

Not a bookish post and I hope that's okay! This past week was a little rough for me. At the risk of being very vulnerable, my mom had another stroke and it was quite the scare. Emotionally and mentally, I felt fried. I was exhausted. Normally, working out is my place of peace. It's where I go to relieve all my stress, but that wasn't what I wanted to do.

Ever since joining Bookstagram, it has brought a new joy into my life because I really, really do LOVE books and reading. It makes me so ecstatic to talk to you guys about ACOTAR or recommending a new scary book or asking for recommendations at the expense of my wallet lol. I've made so many new friends and I call you all that because I do consider you friends.

Yes, my page is primarily about books, but it isn't just that. My page is also a little corner where people can come to have fun, yap, laugh about ridiculous bookish things, discover something spooky or cozy, and occasionally get a reminder that you're allowed to just be a person. To be weird, nerdy, different—to just be you.

Life can be sad. It can be messy. But how beautiful is it that millions of people, all over the world, can bond over their love for books? For distant lands with magical creatures and spooky monsters that lurk in the shadows. That's wonderful, isn't it?! 🥹

So whatever you're going through, I hope this feels like a hug from me to you. 🩷🦋
