Leiras tideveve (Tides of Clay)- Exhibition with Ceramic Students from KHIO. Pictures from our last exhibition.

Clay is a complex material that, when it meets the hands, undergoes a process of opposites. It can be malleable, flexible, and pliable.
In one moment, the soft clay slips through the fingers, but when it begins to dry, cracks can appear and it becomes fragile. Then the clay is fired and becomes petrified in a lasting state.

Studying art is also a contradictory and complex affair. As an art student, one balances between curious exploration and tough choices in relation to the work and one’s own artistic practice.
The processes require concentration, precision, and not least an open mind for the work to move in unexpected directions.

The exhibition with the Ceramics Student, gathers works from 11 students and recent graduates from the ceramic field at KHIO.
The works spring from an experimental phase of the artistic practice, where exploration of both oneself and one’s artistic practice is central.
At the same time, the selected students show a strong dedication to the craft and the material’s inherent history.
