Footage of the xorgtron workshop last month in @koje.wien The Xorgtron is an all analog chaotic noise Synthesizer, with many controls that can produce a multitude of unexpected sounds. Don’t try too hard to understand what is happening, the three light sensors, 8 switches and 5 rotary knobs make it hard to get the same sound a second time. But in that lies it’s beauty: The Synthesizer has a life of it’s own and it’s up to us to interact with it: You can try to tame it, but in the end it is a wild spirit and we better appreciate it 🙂 A special feature is the drum function: With a switch we can set it so that the Xorgtron turns into a Xorgdrum, now its sounds are triggered by a pushbutton and otherwise will shut up. Finally here is the september program for the 3rd wednesday of the month! If you were wondering why it took so long it was because we were still being in a lazy summer mood. But that is over now. This september is a full and diverse program with a Taiwanese twist 🎹 LIVE @timorozendal has a strong focus on the raw swing, groove and immediacy of 90s house. His sets are built around a largely self-designed and self-built modular system 🎵 LIVE @ruebezahl_electronics is a world citizen, born in Germany, Ruben Rübe lives and works in Taiwan. He creates self-made electronic instruments, but for this occasion he will bring a Gameboy and a flute 🔊 LIVE @frank_vis_chaos is touring together with @yiwei_yang_ bringing a very special set-up. Frank brings his modular synth and Yo-Wei is playing the Zheng, a traditional plucked string instrument. Thats not a synth, but great nonetheless! 🎼 Beside the live program we will have DJs @skipperbabysitter.dj and @andy__dufter See you next week at @brewpubdekrommeharing taken in Utrecht, Netherlands by @ruebezahl_electronics

Don’t try too hard to understand what is happening, the three light sensors, 8 switches and 5 rotary knobs make it hard to get the same sound a second time. But in that lies it’s beauty: The Synthesizer has a life of its own and it’s up to us to interact with it: You can try to tame it, but in the end it is a wild spirit and we better appreciate it 🙂 A special feature is the drum function: With a switch we can set it so that the Xorgtron turns into a Xorgdrum, now its sounds are triggered by a pushbutton and otherwise will shut up. In this workshop we will assemble and solder the Xorgtron under the guidance of the designer Ruben Rübe himself. The Synth comes in a barebone PCB design in the shape of an UFO, making it not too challenging to solder. It is a suitable project for beginners, and all needed knowledge and tools will be provided. We will also learn a bit about how the circuit functions, and how to get some cool sounds out of it. Next chance to build one: 7-12.9. Circuit Control - Dresden 13.9.
