🎉 It’s a Season of A-Beard-ance! We’re delighted to share that Cody Sooy has come a-beard as our new Beards Administrator.

Cody Sooy (he/him) is a filmmaker and writer whose work centers on themes of trans communities and transmasculine experience. His short films have screened at the LA Horror Film Festival, the Seattle Trans Underground Film Festival, and Videodome film festival, and has been programmed by the queer cinema collective SEEN. Cody’s fiction has appeared in various trans-centered literary publications including Lilac Peril and smoke and mold. His upcoming projects include K-Hole Demon Hunter, a short film about trans-led nightlife communities, and Pineys, a feature-length horror-adventure about the legendary Jersey Devil.

Raised in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, Cody spent several years in Chicago before heading back east to Philadelphia in 2023. He is the lead organizer of Philly Transmasc Picnic and a programmer with South Philly Autonomous Cinema. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University in English Literature and Radio/Television/Film, and he brings a background in nonprofit administration to his work with the Beards.
