I'm very sad for the passing of my old friend Justin Chearno. It's taken me a minute to think of what I can possibly say.
I hired Justin at Uva Wines back in 2003 and he became my tasting compatriot, protégée and eventually my replacement as manager and buyer. More importantly, he was a good friend. We cooked some great dinners, traded some sharply barbed snarky jokes and tasted a lot of wine! I'm pretty sure I was the first guy to make Justin taste a natural wine. He really just fit in the wine world and had an amazing ability to make lasting friendships with wine makers, restaurateurs and wine lovers around the world. I'm proud to have had a role in his trajectory and feel he excelled in so many ways I never could have. Most importantly, it was his role of a caring attentive father and loving husband to Felix and Stacy that was his greatest achievement. It was so important to Justin to build a career that could help support Stacy and eventually a family. My heart goes out to them and Justin's family in Ohio.

Justin will be sorely missed for so many years to come and his legacy lives on every time someone opens a bottle of natural wine or asks what sulfites are! Rest easy Justin. taken in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NYC by @ruffmixwines

Spring flows into summer in the vineyards of Domaine Valdition. Flowers and wild arugala florish through the biodynamic and organically grown vines, lending their subtle perfume to the Alpilles wines. Vives Ambros creates sublime, dry brut cava in Montferri Catalonia. They age them in the same room their grandfather made wine in 40 years ago. The vineyards in the surrounding hills include the “Sactuari de la Mare Dèu de Montserrat”

Super Excited to introduce this wine from Marie Couderc.

Marie decided to start life over as a winemaker in 2014. With a background in science she had long been drawn toward agriculture.

She found an old Château in severe disrepair, lived in a tent for 2 years while rebuilding the facilities and house, and now makes natural wines from young vineyards and older Negrette vines she leases.

Petite Negrette is a little lighter and juicier than Negrette can be with dark cocoa, baking spice and dark fruit notes.
