Joy’s Journey: From rescue dog to service dog 🦮

We have had so much fun doing library/school talks for kids. Each time, I’m blown away by how educated they are on service dog etiquette. Our goal is to spread awareness and education while the kids participate in interactive activities and listen to a story. Now, we get to share our own story which is so special. If you would like to book a story time with Joy and Vida, reach out to @rufftimecanine 🐕‍🦺

Every picture in the book is a cartoon generated version of our actual images. At the end of the story, you can check out all the real pictures we used to bring the book to life! This has been a work in progress for some time and I am so glad I finally get to share it with you! The intention was never to sell the book but with so many of you requesting copies, I would be thrilled to do so. Thank you for the continued support! ✨ by @rufftimecanine

🐕 At the end of the day, it is your dog and your responsibility as an owner to keep up with their training! Your dog trainer wants to see you succeed, I promise! It can be time consuming and hard work, but your fur baby deserves their daily dose of training! Let’s work together as a team to achieve your goals, it is definitely a group effort! by @rufftimecanine

Sessions when we get to ride are my favorite 🛹💨

This boy is working on confidence building, reactivity, and maintaining composure on walks! After just a few minutes of working around the board, he decided to jump on himself! Sometimes our dogs think the world is scary and it is our job to help them navigate their emotions and work through tough situations together. by @rufftimecanine

Are you familiar with the components of “prey drive”?

The sequence consists of the following…

👀 SEARCH: Orient, scent, and locate prey
🌾 STALK: Freeze, crouch, creep
🏃‍♂️CHASE: Rapid pursuit of moving target
🦷CAPTURE: Grab and bite
☠️KILL: Shake, bite, kill
🍽️CONSUME: tear and eat the prey

What we see does not always tell the full story. Different breeds are inclined to find intrinsic rewards in different aspects of prey drive.

For example:

Herding breeds like border collies are more interested in the stalk due to genetic predispositions.

Sighthounds find reward in the chase.

Terriers like the grab, bite, kill.

Hounds and pointers are drawn to the search and stalk.

🐩 Like all dog training, this depends on the individual dog in front of us. Think of what behaviors your dog is presenting, but also what their genetic components are truly telling us. by @rufftimecanine

Thank you @walkmultipledogs for making my job so much easier every day! There are so many different ways we use this product, so I decided to take a little video while I used it in three different ways, for three different dogs, at the same time! 🐕🐕🐕 by @rufftimecanine
