Photos from this year’s STEAMPalooza!

The Form Design Studio @ruformdesignstudio and Shine Portrait Studio @shine_portraitstudio teamed up with Rutgers Summer PreCollege Program @center4precollege_ru_nwk during the month of July.

Students learned about composition, documentation, and portraiture, along with 3D modeling and 3D printing, as they developed site-specific sculpture proposals for works that could be placed around campus.

This program could not have succeeded without the assistance of RUN alumni student teachers. Thank you Josie Cruz for working with me and leading the photography components. Thank you Camilla Zarzuela and Matheus Cueva for assisting students and keeping them focused.

Thank you @anthonyalvarezphoto for helping to develop this collaboration and sharing resources.

It was a pleasure to host this exciting @khemfest #AfrofuturismArtLabs STEAM program for the past two weeks!

Teaching by Jacob Rosa #LookingGlassGraphics and conceived and led by Naseed Gifted @khemfest #PBSSteam

Students used several programs and applications to create original animated characters and environments.

Yesterday @expressnewark celebrated the completion of their works with a presentation reception organized by Express Newark Administrative Coordinator Pat Sweeting.

Each character was presented by the student creator to an audience of families and friends. ❤️

We’ve been so happy to see so many ACM Graphic Design capstone works produced in the Form Design Lab over the past few weeks! We’ve enjoyed hearing about your ideas and problem solving with you. Tonight is your moment to shine and celebrate your development and accomplishments!

Please join us for the opening of their exhibition TRACEWORKS.

TRACEWORK explores the theme of legacy: the cultural, social, environmental, and personal imprints that shape our present and inform our future. These legacies may be inherited, celebrated, or contested; visible or invisible. They live in traditions, stories, artifacts, and systems—and in the ways we choose to remember, challenge, or transform them.

The exhibition presents 24 transmedia projects that use communication design to tell compelling stories. It invites viewers to reflect on the legacies we inherit, the ones we reinforce or resist, and the role we play in shaping what endures.

Featured graphic designers include Afnan Saleh, Anthony Ramos-Oliveira, Cezar Regala, Daniela Murillo-Cifuentes, David De Luca, Ek Kong, Emily Anderson, Estrellita Matheu Roca, Giselle Serrano, Hajra Siddique, Helen Jaramillo, Jourdy Pridgen, Kamara Smith, Kevyncia Housen, Liam Fuller, Matheus Cueva, Meagan Ngetich, Melanie Lescano, Miranda Peña Galicia, Miuni Wijerathne, Nakayla Johnson, Narieles Guaba, Rufiashley Moranchel, and Theo Desloges.

This year’s exhibition is led by Associate Professor Jennifer Bernstein and Visiting Adjunct Professor Rebecca Pauline Jampol.

The Senior Graphic Design Capstone Exhibition marks the culmination of each student designer’s development within the program, providing a platform to showcase their evolution, practice, and interests. Keary Rosen ACM faculty and director of Form Design Studio was able to present the progress of a collaborative student design project at the Immersive Tech in the Classroom SASN Showcase with @alexachang2000 last week. SCI-ART COLLABORATIVE PROGRAM

The exhibition reception is on Wednesday April 15, 4pm – 6pm.
Light refreshments will be provided – this event is free and open to all.

The Open Studio display in the Robeson Campus Center Gallery until April 30, 2026

The Robeson Campus Center Gallery is open Monday to Thursday, 12.30pm - 4.30pm.

Featuring creative projects exploring the intersection of Science and Art - come and learn more about experimental, eco-friendly materials being used by artists and designers. The Sci-Art Collaborate Program focuses on interdisciplinary learning, and is supported by the Paul Robeson Galleries, the Clement A. Price Institute, the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (Khadempour Lab), the Rutgers Business School (Public Private Community Partnership Program) and the Department of Arts, Culture & Media (Form Design Studio).

Artwork in the exhibition has come from the Rutgers University – Newark “3-D Design Fundamentals” (Department of Arts, Culture and Media), Rutgers Business School (Center for Local Supply Chain Resiliency), students from Newark’s Science High School (Environmental Studies), and artists of the Greater Newark area.
