Cris Tejada ( @rugtimeblues ), las manos del aire

To walk is to learn; to experience is to understand.
las manos del aire explores movement, meditation, and the loss of control through a conscious survey of Rio San Gabriel’s metropolitan ecosystem, as it develops, and a preservation of geographic history.
Within Antecámara Privada, a series of Prussian blue ink works on paper hang like the foliage of the tree that composed the work. Tejada’s tree sessions- wind movements captured by ink over the course of various walks along the Rio San Gabriel. While dense pools of ink break into erratic strokes, a brushwork that is completely detached from the body, the warm tone of the paper compliments the organic gesture by Toyon branches. Tejada’s living documentation brings the outside into the home, carrying histories of the familial and remnants of what is to be discovered. An act of surrender turns into a dance in the domestic space where wind is then animated into story.

LA based art collective, GAG!, embodies Carlos Vides’s Mueble : Totale architectural structure as a center for the beating heart of a social landscape…

GAG! is brought in a series of workshops and works that touch on what creation, education, and exploration look like at home at various times..

Poets question the idea of home and our relationship to the spaces around us. Artists create forms, digital media, and paintings alongside the inevitability of structure. Testing function and play; and how they can exist in the same sphere. Video works exploring the rhythms of the day-to-day and mise-en-scene; emphasizing the importance of our relationship to the architectures around us.

At the core is the home and how we can make this all accessible.
