Staircase Made Of Rope is out since yesterday and I can’t believe that it all happened so fast! I love this band, I love our team and I love this record and how we grow and change and stay together over the last years.

It’s honestly one of the best things, or even the best, to create music with your dear friends.

Listen to the record and come to our shows if you can 🪽

🔹ronja moves between intimate songwriting, ambient textures and experimental composition, blending voice, acoustic guitar and flute into a dreamy, emotionally charged sound.

Alongside her solo project, she is part of dreamgaze band Roomer and Spydergum Ensemble, exploring different shades of her sonic world.

On Sunday afternoon, she’ll bring her live show to Superflat. A moment to slow down, listen and drift somewhere else.

This song started as the roughest of demos and transformed within a couple of days spent with ronja into what you hear now. I love this new way of working that carved itself out in the process of this album. I love the blend of our vocals and putting shards of ronjas flute everywhere. I love the video shot and edited by my @anniepaxton and the more dangerous shards of her and @hallo.hilfe work you can see here. little angel @nicolas_fehr is to mention also for hosting us and shooting a ton of hd footage we didn't end up using. love you all 🩶 taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @ruin_ja

“Up With The Sun” has been out for a week now on @unguarded_____ and @praesenseditionen
Thank you for listening and for all your kind words, shares, and thoughts 🌹

Looking back, this EP feels like community. I’ve never made a solo record with so many people involved, and I’m so grateful for this experience - making new friends, creating things together on the spot, and then taking it all back into my own hands to shape it into something that feels close to me.

It started in Copenhagen, where Laurits, together with Malthe and Morten, invited me to record some songs on tape. I went there with Luka, and we recorded seven songs - live, just voice and guitar, in one or two takes - and later added Mellotron, brass, and electric guitar.
Back in Berlin, I added flutes, Bertram played pedal steel guitar, Ludwig co-produced and mixed the record, and Tim mastered it.

Thanks to everyone who was part of this.

Here’s an insight into the recording process:
1 studio window
2 a song that didn’t make it onto the record
3 Luka on guitar
4 machine
5 Erik and Malthe in my Berlin studio
6 Morten, Laurits, Malthe and Lea at studio Lærken in Cph
7 mellotron
8 focus
9 Bertram on pedal steel guitar
10 how we recorded voice and acoustic guitar (and Oscar’s beautiful guitars)

On to what’s next! by @ruin_ja

Up With The Sun the second record by @ruin_ja on Unguarded, out today as a co-release with Lucerne’s @praesenseditionen . Ronja’s voice and acoustic guitar are at this EP’s center, circled by touches of flutes, pedal steel & mellotron. Wistful songs move through everyday thresholds, shared rooms, small rituals, misplaced belongings, turning the mundane into a stage for longing and indecision, dreamlike and diffuse in time.

Out digitally everywhere and available on cassette on our bandcamp, where you can also read a full writeup by @luka__aron

„…whether adorned with full band and production detail, or pared down to voice and guitar alone, the core of ronja’s songwriting remains classic and hard to date, and thus timeless.“
– Luka Aron

Written, performed and produced by Ronja Schößler
Except Interlude – Improvisation by Malthe Kaptain, Erik Klinga and Ronja Schößler
Mainly recorded at studio Lærken with Laurits Qwist Bilen, Morten McCoy, Malthe Kaptain and Luka
Aron
Co-produced and mixed by Ludwig Wandinger
Mastered by Tim Roth
Artwork by Sidney Leung

Musicians involved:
Ronja Schößler – Voice, Guitar, Flute
Bertram Burkert – Pedal Steel Guitar, Rubber Bridge Guitar
Malthe Kaptain – Piano
Morten McCoy – Mellotron
Luka Aron – Guitar
Erik Klinga – Guitar, Buchla

Unguarded & @praesenseditionen present ‘Up With The Sun’, the title track from the forthcoming @ruin_ja record of the same name, out February 13, just in time for a (pre-)Valentine’s Day listen. Available for pre-order now digitally & on cassette!

Up With The Sun is ronja’s latest cycle of songs: themes first met in wistful dreams, sounding dreamlike all the while, with voice and acoustic guitar as the main vehicle, and a company of Berlin and Copenhagen musicians close behind.
