And here’s the reason behind Run For Hope — Steven DeMarre 🙌

In April 2022, Steven was diagnosed with Stage 3 esophageal cancer.

What followed were months of chemotherapy, radiation at UCLA, and a major surgery on July 9, 2022. Through fear, uncertainty, and difficult days, God remained faithful.

Soon, Steven will celebrate 4 years cancer free 🙏💜

Steven is more than a survivor—he’s a husband, father of 10, traveler, and the heart behind this mission.

Run For Hope was created to honor journeys like his, support families facing cancer, bring awareness, and remind people they are never alone.

We run for the fighters.
We run for the survivors.
We run for the families.
We run because hope is stronger than fear.

What started as a battle became a testimony—and now our prayer is that Run For Hope becomes a place where people find encouragement, connection, faith, and hope.

What started as a search for change became a journey of healing, gratitude, and purpose.

Running became more than movement — it became therapy, a way to support mental health, connect with God’s creation, and appreciate every step along the way.

✨ Meet our Run for Hope Ambassador — Patty Lozano ✨ @plozano2003 @kermanrunclub

Founder of Kerman Run Club • Cancer Survivor • Marathon Dream Chaser 💜🏃‍♀️

Patty started running 3 years ago at age 50. What began as a simple 2-mile fun walk for chocolate quickly turned into a passion and a lifestyle.

From completing 5Ks in year one, to 5Ks and 10Ks in year two, to now completing 4 half marathons and training for her first full marathon in August 2026—her journey is proof that it’s never too late to start.

But her story goes beyond miles.

As a 10-year cancer survivor, God placed something bigger on her heart. In March 2025 she started Kerman Run Club, creating a place where walkers and runners of all levels could find encouragement, connection, and purpose.

Their motto, “Building Strides Together,” continues to impact their community one step at a time.

Patty’s faith, hope, and testimony remind us that movement is a gift and that every finish line can become someone else’s starting line.

✨ Meet our Run for Hope Ambassador — Mau Freitas ✨ @mauriciafreitas

Originally from Brazil and now living in California, Mau is a wife, accountant, runner, and a true reminder that every journey starts with one step 🏃‍♀️💜

What started a little over two years ago as a personal challenge quickly became a passion. Since then, she has completed multiple 5Ks, 10Ks, trail races, and crossed the finish line of her first half marathon.

Through social media, Mau shares her training, race experiences, and the reality of balancing work, family, and fitness—encouraging others to keep showing up and trust the process.

Her message is simple but powerful: every runner starts somewhere, and consistency matters more than speed.

We’re honored to have Mau as part of Run for Hope and excited to continue inspiring others to move, grow, and run with purpose 💜
