@crazylongjumper is Italy’s top male sprinter of the modern era. He exploded onto the world stage at the Tokyo Olympics, winning the 100m in a European-record 9.80 and then taking another gold with Italy in the 4×100m relay. He later became World Indoor 60m champion (6.41 European record) and won European 100m titles in 2022 and 2024. #track #sprint #sprinting #sprinter #flowstate by @runfastgo_

Don’t drink the lean …. If you solely rely on leaning into the curve of a 200m race, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

The curve isn’t just about body position. It’s about how effectively you apply force into the ground while maintaining your sprint mechanics.

Your right foot still needs to strike the ground underneath your center of mass and produce meaningful force. Excessive leaning or collapsing at the waist can compromise your ability to position that leg effectively, reducing force production and disrupting your rhythm.

Don’t sacrifice ground contact mechanics just to create a lean. The lean should support your ability to navigate the curve, not interfere with your ability to sprint.

One important technical distinction: The right leg doesn’t necessarily need to reach farther. You want effective front-side mechanics and a powerful ground strike without overstriding. #track #sprint #sprinting #trackandfieldlife #sprinter by @runfastgo_

“Squats and deadlifts are excellent for developing power, but they also heavily recruit the spinal erectors, which help extend and stabilize the spine. As sprinters, we need to understand that producing force through extension doesn’t mean we should immediately stand upright out of the blocks.

Once you achieve triple extension during acceleration, your core must help control your trunk position and prevent excessive lumbar extension. You want to rise gradually as you accelerate, not prematurely force your torso upright.

Train your body to produce power, but train your core to control where that power goes.” #track by @runfastgo_

During acceleration, the arms drive aggressively forward and backward to help generate momentum as the body projects forward.

However, as you transition into upright, maximum-velocity sprinting, the arm action should become more compact and rhythmic.

The humerus (upper-arm bone) should not aggressively cross forward in front of the torso. Instead, emphasize driving the elbows backward while allowing the arms to recover naturally.

Think of holding two hammers: DOWN, BACK. DOWN, BACK. DOWN, BACK.

The objective is to maintain rhythm, minimize unnecessary upper-body movement, and complement the powerful vertical forces being produced by the legs. #track #sprint #sprinting by @runfastgo_
