Pregnancy has changed my relationship with exercise more than I ever expected.

I’ve had to stop trail running and big hikes… because right now my body simply can’t do some of the things that make me feel most like me. And yes, I’ve found that really bloody hard.

But something this pregnancy has reminded me is that running can be a huge part of your life without being your whole life.

I might not be running in the mountains right now, but I’m still working, I’ve done SO MANY talks to athletes on how to be healthy, I’ve fallen back in love with swimming, put on my first ever women’s only trail running event, continued to build a career I care deeply about and spent time with people I love.

And I think there’s a lesson in that for anyone who’s had to stop running due to...
🤕Injury
🚩REDs recovery
🤒Illness
🤰🏼Pregnancy
🍼Postpartum
Or just life!

Sometimes running has to take a back seat. And yes you’re allowed to miss it and find it difficult. But when running has to stop, life doesn’t stop. You’ll still continue to hit other goals, finish projects, be a great friend, focus on your health, learn how to be a new mum … the list goes on.

And running will still be there when you’re ready to come back 🫶🏼🏃🏼‍♀️

this is She Claims The Trails!! 🥳💛🎤🏃🏽‍♀️👩🏼‍🏫

We never set out to just take women running. The aim from the start was to create a day where women could be inspired by their peers, feel more confident running and learn tools and tips to help them achieve their goals in trail running, whether that’s to do their first event or to go all the way to the top.

On Sunday, that all came together with a panel talk from some of our favourite women across the industry, workshops on How to be a Healthy Runner and Route Planning & Safety, a motivational exercise which got the creative juices flowing and finally, our guided runs by our wonderful run leaders.

A huge thank you to our partners @sportsshoes and @asics for their support in making this whole day possible and a massive shoutout to our crew, speakers and run leaders who helped our runners have the absolute best experience 💛🫶

It feels like this is just the start… so if you want to see more (thinking new places, more workshops, more speakers?), let us know in the comments! ⬇️

Wow, wow, WOW! 🥹💕🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🌳

On Sunday we held our very first edition of She Claims The Trails and it was everything we’d dreamed of and so much more 💛

This incredible group of women joined us in Ashtead for a day of panel talks, guided workshops, lunch, educational sessions and guided runs all designed to help the feel empowered to get out on the trails and when we say the atmosphere was special, that doesn’t even come close.

Within five minutes, you couldn’t tell that over half these women had turned up alone (also shoutout them for being so brave and trusting us too! 🫶). Everyone was so friendly and got stuck in straight away, and by the time lunch came round the chats and vibes made it feel like this was a group of women who were already firm friends.

To our crew, speakers and run leaders, thank you. We couldn’t have done this without you, and your passion, knowledge and commitment made the experience for our runners so so special 💕

A massive thank you to our wonderful partners @sportsshoes and @asics for helping us make this day possible (and for kitting out our crew and runners!) and a huge thank you too to our friends at @scienceinsport @tenzing @maverickrace @thresholdtrailseries @strava @wearesungod @lifeskin and @eleat for spoiling our runners too!

And finally, thank you to our wonderful little community (that’s YOU! 🫵💛). Thank you for trusting us with your money, your time and your trail experiences and for turning up with such wonderful energy and enthusiasm!

We can’t wait to see you all again out on the trails and hopefully, this is just the start for She Claims The Trails 👀💕✨

Women’s sport is having a MOMENT.

Yesterday at @sheclaimsthetrails I left feeling SO happy about how amazing it is when you bring together a group of women from completely different walks of life, backgrounds, ages and abilities, all because of a shared love of one thing… running in the outdoors!

More women are participating. Records are being broken. Stadiums are selling out. Female athletes are finally getting more of the recognition they deserve.

And yet somehow, in 2026, a company selling SPORT still decides the best way to get people’s attention is to sexualise a woman’s body.

And yes, women absolutely have autonomy over their own bodies. This isn’t about criticising Sydney Sweeney for choosing to take part.

It’s about questioning why THIS is still the marketing strategy?!

Women and girls already grow up surrounded by messaging about how their bodies should look. Sport has this incredible opportunity to change that narrative and show them just how strong, capable and powerful their bodies can be.

Women’s bodies can run ultramarathons. Lift ridiculous weights. Win Olympic medals. Climb mountains. Create and have babies. Recover and get back to activity. Exercise around work and childcare. Adapt. Achieve incredible things.

So no, we don’t need to sexualise women to make people interested in sport.

Women’s sport is interesting enough already!

proud of us @runfreephysio 🥹💛🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏿‍♀️🌳

we always say that the hardest things is sometimes just to start and this was so true of @sheclaimsthetrails

We’d both had the idea for years but hadn’t backed ourselves to do it, and even when it got going there were SO many things we’ve had to figure out. What to call it, where to do it, how to do it.

The to do lists have felt endless at times but now we’re finally ready to welcome you all tomorrow and we cannot wait to see this all come to life!

Huge love to @runfreephysio for being the best person ever to share this journey with and a huge thank you to @sportsshoes and @asics for believing in us and helping make all this possible 💛💛💛

See you all in the morning!! 🥳🫶

Social media can give us a pretty warped idea of what being a healthy runner ACTUALLY looks like…

So here’s your little Monday reminder 🫶🏼

Being a healthy runner isn’t about running streaks, constantly chasing the next race or always pushing for more.

It’s about knowing when to push, when to pull back, when to rest and when your body needs a little more from you.

Because ultimately, the goal isn’t just to run more. It’s to stay healthy enough to keep running forever 🏃🏼‍♀️🫶🏼

REDs in pregnancy and postpartum 🤎

We teamed up with @runfreephysio to break it down - what it is, why pregnant and postpartum women are at higher risk, why it’s so easy to miss, and what to do about it.

Swipe. Save it. Share it with someone who needs to see it. 👇🏼

REDs is still relatively “new”, and our understanding of it continues to evolve as more evidence emerges.

But something I’m seeing time and time again in clinic is athletes seeking help because they’re injured and either:

• REDs simply isn’t being screened for
• OR it is recognised, but treatment remains focused on the injury in front of them rather than the underlying problem

Because if an athlete has REDs, we’re not just dealing with a stress fracture or tendinopathy. We’re dealing with an underlying metabolic injury that can impair the body’s ability to repair, recover and adapt to training.

And if we don’t address that first, simply changing their rehab exercises or swapping running for another form of training may completely miss the point.

So if you’re a clinician treating an injured runner with suspected or confirmed REDs, or you’re an athlete whose REDs isn’t being actively managed as part of your injury recovery, now is probably the time to get some specialist help.
