Had fun at the @ryrcrew Head of the Rock yesterday where my Mixed Master’s 4+ took home 🥈 (didn’t even need the handicap 😉) and our Mixed Junior’s 4+ took home 🥇. Super special moment when we got to to see and cheer on our juniors right behind us at the finish (the other 3 rowers were parents of the juniors in the other boat) who passed 2 other boats. The last time the club had these 2 boats at HotRock, the Juniors passed the Masters right before the finish line 🤣 (better luck next year Juniors 🤣)
We also found & rescued a pair of Hawkeye Rowing’s shoes on the side of I-80 on our way to the regatta. taken in Rockford YMCA Rowing Crew by @runneals

Had fun at Head of the Mississippi today, enjoying the gorgeous fall leaves while battling wind and choppy waves. Took home first & last place in the Men’s Open 2- (got a 10mm and 7/16” wrench, IYKYK) and got 1st in raw time in the Men’s Masters 2x, where we ended up 5th (hard to beat 3 minutes of handicaps). On the way home we saw some AMAZING double rainbows and also a stunning sunset. Next weekend I’ll be in a Mixed Masters 4+ at Head of the Rock, and starting to work out plans for the Wichita Frostbite in November. Shout out to my amazing partner @franklevy_iowa for putting up with me and continuing to push me to try new boats 🤣 taken in East River Flats Park by @runneals

🥉🥉🥈🥉Another fun race with @franklevy_iowa and other club members at the @desmoinesrowing Head of the Des Moines yesterday. I placed in every single race! Can’t wait for more racing the next 2 weeks! Definitely found some amazing boats to be a part of. Won’t forget the Novice 4. When we rounded the corner, @rowmtu was trying to pass us as we passed @ust.rowing . It was nuts! Our coxswain, Greg, started calling for power 10s at the end of the race and we pulled away from both. After the race he asked if we knew how many power strokes we had done. We had no idea. He laughed and said 45. 😊 More fun racing! taken in Easter Lake, Des Moines by @runneals

Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden ft 600ft of straight up climbing because the grab driver dropped me at the bottom of the mountain 😒 (I did want a workout, but not at the gardens… oh well) Ft cuteness overload at the end 🥰 taken in Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden by @runneals

I couldn’t pick my favorite from tonight at the lake, so here’s all 3. ✅ Successfully passed my flip test in a racing shell, 1 more step to closer to getting out on the water by myself! Also set some goals today (might have been inspired by watching Team USA win 🥉), so this will definitely help in the pursuit of those. by @runneals

Had fun this weekend up in Minneapolis at the @minneapolis_rowing_club Mississippi River 1k Sprints for my first ever rowing races with the @desmoinesrowing & @desmoinesyouthrowing crews (who brought home some 🥇 medals). Also was fortunate to see the @specialolympicsusagames torch run down the river before I went out for my 2x (shout out to my awesome rowing partner/Coach/mentor @franklevy_iowa). Learned a lot about racing and had a lot of fun. Can’t wait for more! 🚣 by @runneals
