My long-distance running journey from 5th February 2023 to 23 Feb 2025:-

8 official half marathons and 2 official full marathons ( excluding a few non officials practice runs here and there) so far.

I had never done 21km before 2023. The max was 17km . Nothing beyond that There were various reasons for that:

No.1.. Rajat, being a fighter pilot, had always been posted to small places. We don't get such opportunities there.

No.2 . I was busy raising my child mostly single handedly ( fauji wife thing ). Long runs are time devoting thingy.

No.3.. Honestly, I had not been a big fan of long runs. They are, of course, difficult , but other than the difficulty level, I used to find them boring. I was focusing on pace runs of 10 km.. Was working on the timing and was successfully keeping it under 55 minutes. Beyond that, it used to become boring for me . Time constraints, too, were there. I was finding it difficult to devote more time to my practice .( child, home, job etc etc)

We got posted to Delhi in May 2021 ( during covid) . There were no events happening at that time, and in 2022, i was not convinced to go for long runs or was apprehensive about them. But in 2023, with super sikh one race run, I gave it a thought, and since then, there's no looking back. 🧿

It's been an amazing journey so far. The idea is to get comfortable with the discomfort. To cover the long distances effortlessly with a lot of muscle mass. To even go for ultras effortlessly with a lot of muscle mass. Not been in a rat race and will never be. It's just me versus me. MY JOURNEY MY WAY @runnerwithmuscles.

Someone asked why would people run when it's difficult?
The answer is in the question itself.....
Because it is difficult.

I don't envy ultra runners or pace runners, they only inspire me to do better in life. I just wonder how do they just do what they do...

Finishing 122k ultra run in Leh with the flying colours is just insane amount of grit, dedication and discipline. It's not a skill anyone can work on , it's pure hard work. And yes not anyone and everyone can do it.

Nothing humbles me in life more than this. It's phenomenal. by @runnerwithmuscles

5 ways to live more independently.

#unilateraltraining is a mandatory part of my training.

#unilateralstrength

Unilateral training—performing single-arm or single-leg movements—forces each side of your body to work independently, preventing your dominant side from overcompensating and building a more balanced physique. by @runnerwithmuscles

It's very difficult for the person with a severe vertigo to stand on the water tank of the 10th floor. But that's how you get some good pictures, get to see the biggest double rainbows of your life and ofcourse a beautiful sunset with the mind-blowing wind and drizzle.

I'm a highlander and comes with a fear of heights and it took me almost 2 decades of my life to know that I have it.

I live with it , managing it to a large extent but there are triggers of it and height is one of them.

For the first couple of minutes I couldn't get off the floor as it was too shaky for me to even stand forget about looking down..

And the entire time I was thinking since now I'm here but how will I go down taking that unstable iron ladder.

While climbing it I look up and while going down also I look up only.

But worth the fear and the trigger.

I don't know if you pass it generation to generation but Opal too was diagnosed with it recently, not as severe as I have but still... But we both are a little daring taken in Dwarka -द्वारका by @runnerwithmuscles

It's a reminder that you are alive, capable and blessed. It's not something you have to do but get to do. Don't take the body that can move for granted. It's meant to be moved. Still is dead. by @runnerwithmuscles
