Sunday, the man who already beat the old world record defends his title on the course where it was written.

🇬🇧
Behind at 5K. Level by 35K. Ahead of world-record pace at 40K.

@tigist__assefa ran the first 40 kilometers of Berlin faster than Ruth Chepngetich's world record (2:09:56 — a mark that still stands despite the three-year doping ban handed down in 2025). With just two kilometers left, her Achilles gave out.

She finished in 2:11:04. Not the record. Maybe the bravest race run in Berlin on Sunday.

@adidasrunning on her feet the whole way.

Can you lose a race and still win everyone's respect? 👇

Everyone's got a headline reason. Boston qualifier. First marathon. Bucket list. Charity mile forty-two.

But the real reason is usually smaller than that — and it doesn't fit on a bib.

Tell us. Why are you running Berlin?

🇬🇧
We gave a name to something you already knew: pacefulness.

That stretch of an easy run where your head finally goes quiet — right up until you check your watch and it's gone again.

We didn't invent the feeling. It just needed a word.

How long does the calm last before you check your heart rate? 👇

@joshlynott just painted a 14×3 metre mural somewhere in Berlin, right before Sunday's marathon. Nobody's saying exactly where — you have to run the city to find it.

At the bottom, in small letters, it asks people not to photograph it.

You already know how this ends.

Berlin is Sunday. Zero kilometers this week. Somewhere in taper week, resting gets more exhausting than running. The mind won't quiet down, the legs don't know what to do with all that energy, and every tiny twinge suddenly feels like an injury.

🇬🇧
Nobody prepares you to explain why the Coros Pace 4 Pro is "totally different" from the Coros Pace 4 you bought three months ago.

It isn't. You know it isn't. You bought it anyway.

@corosglobal, if you've got a technical explanation that sounds convincing, now's the time. My partner's still waiting on an answer.

There's no cure for this. Only management.

What's your last purchase you couldn't justify? 👇

"¿Vas a correr otra vez hoy?"

🇬🇧
"You're running again today?"

Nobody asks you that about brushing your teeth. Or getting dressed. Or eating.

Running every day isn't a feat that needs an explanation. It's just something you do — like everything else you do without anyone commenting on it.

What's the most absurd question you've gotten about running? 👇

🇬🇧
Two legends, one race.

Tigst Assefa ran 2:11:53 in Berlin in 2023 — a world record, until Ruth Chepngetich lowered it to 2:09:56 in Chicago in 2024. Sunday she comes back for what was hers.

In the same race, Kenenisa Bekele runs. To many, the greatest distance runner ever: 3 Olympic golds, world records at 5,000m and 10,000m that stood for 16 years. In 2019, on this same course, he missed the marathon world record by two seconds. He's 44 now, and this time he's not chasing a mark — just lining up again.

One is chasing a number. The other already wrote his chapter years ago. Both stories deserve your attention.

Who are you watching Sunday? 👇

El reloj cuenta pasos. No cuenta por qué saliste a correr hoy.

Vas a ver mil cifras hoy: ritmo, pulsaciones, VO2max, "training load".

🇬🇧
The watch counts steps. It doesn't count why you laced up.

You'll see a thousand numbers today: pace, heart rate, VO2max, "training load." None of them say whether you ran because you needed to, or because the plan told you to.

Data describes the run. It doesn't explain the reason.

When's the last time you ran without checking a single metric? 👇
