We’re building something special in Poole 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Since taking over Running Free in October, it’s never just been about selling shoes for us.

We want this to be a place where local runners connect, learn, and run together. So that’s what we’ve been building.

From Couch to 5K to specialist nutrition and health talks. Yoga, pilates, strength and conditioning. Social runs. Expert speakers. Big name brands. And more to come!

Every Wednesday we head out for a social run from the store.

No pressure on pace - just friendly faces, fresh air, and good company.

So, if you’re a local runner, run club, workshop host, or business who’s got an idea on how to collaborate on an event, class or workshop - get in touch.

We’d love to build this with you.

One year. One hell of a celebration 🎉🏃‍♀️🥁

Last night we celebrated Running Free’s first anniversary and you certainly brought the vibes 🕺

New faces, familiar faces, and everyone in between. Running, moving, dancing, drumming. Music blaring from the @alumhurst_garden_services bike, live drums to send us off and welcome us back at the store from @djmilow , and the kind of energy that reminds us exactly why we started this 🫶

One year ago we took over a running shop in Poole, and started to make it ours. Filling the calendar with community events, workshops, and lots of runs. What we didn’t expect was to build a community of beautiful and inspiring people like this.

A big thank you to everyone in our community. For every Wednesday run, every event, every consultation, every conversation. For showing up and making Running Free more than a shop.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next Rave Run 👀

As the darker, colder months roll in, a few simple things can make getting out for your run safer, more comfortable and a lot more enjoyable🏃‍♂️🌧️

Here are a few essentials to think about:

💡 Visibility — reflective clothing helps you be seen
🔦 Vision — head torch or body torch so you can see where you’re going
🧥 Weather protection — a rain or wind jacket can make a big difference
🧤 Comfort — longer sleeves, and thumb holes are always a bonus
👟 Grip — especially important if you’re heading off-road or onto wet trails

Some days are going to be grim out there 😅

The trick is to make your run as easy and comfortable as possible… so you’re not spending the whole thing cold, wet and wishing you’d stayed on the sofa.

Dress for the conditions, get the right kit, and get out there ❄️🌧️🏃

PS you might need a head torch (and some neon!) for tonight’s special anniversary rave run 🕺💃🏃🏻‍♀️🏃‍♂️

What a fabulous morning at the Round the Lakes 10K at Poole Park! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A whole year since we took over Running Free! 🥳

Here’s just a few of the changes, additions and improvements we’ve made as we work even harder to become the go-to running specialist shop and community for Poole, Bournemouth and beyond🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Next week, we’re switching things up 👟⛰️

We’ll be kicking off with our regular 5k community run, but this time you’ll get the chance to trial some @altrarunning shoes on the route, and meet some of the Altra team to talk shoes, running, and more.

Stick around after and hear from Brandon, part of the Running Free crew, on walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain earlier this year - the highs, the hard bits, and details on how you can do it too!
