Another month of reading has closed over here and it was about 50/50 - some were not as great as I’d hoped, but others made up for it. 👏⁣

I don’t know how many of you read Big Little Lies, and may be contemplating the sequel, but I enjoyed Big Little Truths as much as (if not more than) the first! My favorite book of the month! by @runningnreading

Aging like fine wine over here…🤣 In all seriousness, I’m just thankful to be able to continue doing something I enjoy and share it with so many incredible friends. When I see women on the podium at races, like today, in their late 70s, I can only hope that my body continues to allow me to keep going! 💪🎉 by @runningnreading

🇺🇸📚 July Reading! 📖☀️⁣
⁣
Yes, you read that correctly - I am a full month behind on this post. I’m going to blame it on the fact that I’m holding on to summer for dear life and can hardly believe it’s September. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I know all of you fall lovers are getting excited but, since we don’t experience “fall” weather here, it hardly matters: summer >>>winter. I’ll continue summering until September 22, thank you very much. 😆⁣

It’s my birthday week *AND* I got to do a workout on the track this morning, the first one in a long time…y’all know how I feel about being on the track. 😍⁣
⁣
One and a half mile warmup, followed by 6x400m with a 90 second rest in between, and then a one mile cool down - the perfect combination of fun and hard! 💪⁣
⁣
I’m registered for a 5K in September and a half marathon in November and hoping my healthy progress continues for a while longer. I’m excited to see how things go and dedicated to maintaining my strength after PT graduation last week! 🎉 by @runningnreading

It’s Global Running Day, which likely holds little significance to most runners because we think every day is our day and we’ll enthusiastically tell you all about it - the good, the bad, the GI issues, the shoes... 😆⁣
⁣
But today is significant to me because I got to do a “baby workout:” 4 x 90 sec and, in the wise words of @chelseayalaters, “we aren’t out here doing anything crazy, just finding a little speed.” It definitely didn’t feel crazy; it felt freeing and familiar, like meeting up with an old friend. It was capital F fun and I can hardly wait for more, but I’m also respecting my body and listening to what it tells me it needs. ⁣
⁣
After the year started off with a successful half marathon in Houston, I took 10+ weeks off of running and have had weekly PT appointments with @kara_ajackson (she is fabulous) at @bluerosephysicaltherapy. This is my third go-round with chronic proximal/high hamstring tendinopathy over the past nine years and I’m FINALLY following a solid recovery plan. Guess what?? When you listen to the folks who know how to help you, and actually do what they say, it seems to work. 😏🤦🏻‍♀️⁣
⁣
Looking forward to some fall racing and Happy Global Running Day to those of you who understand both the joys and sorrows of a sport that’s impossible to leave behind. ⁣

An absolutely gorgeous spring morning and I’m so thankful I’m to the point in my injury recovery where I could be out there on a run! Big shout out to @kara_ajackson and the folks at @bluerosephysicaltherapy because pain-free running is a blessing I’ve not been able to enjoy in a loooong time! Over four miles (and a couple more walking) with the @blueroserunningco Sunday crew and treats from @fidelandco after we finished. ☀️🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️☕️ by @runningnreading
