POSTS STORIES REELS

I’ve always wanted to build a real running news site. 🗞️
The kind that actually reports on the sport—not just reacts to it.

When I was younger, I loved journalism. But I never thought it was something I could actually do — a language barrier will do that to you. So I didn’t chase the title. I just kept showing up.

And somewhere between covering major marathons, interviewing elites, testing shoes, and being on the ground year after year, it hit me:

I was already doing the journalistic work. I just didn’t have a place for it to live.

That’s how 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥.𝐜𝐨𝐦 came to be.

If you care about what’s actually happening in the sport — not just headlines, hype, or hot takes — this is where it lives now.

Please come check us out at 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥.𝐜𝐨𝐦

Today, Peres Jepchirchir was provisionally suspended. Within minutes, my feed was full of people saying “of course, the Kenyans, they always do that.”

My news articles have no opinions. This video does. 🎥

Disclaimer: this is a provisional suspension and the case is still open. But if the finding stands, I explain why it’s selfish in so many ways. I also explain why judging an entire country by its worst moment is lazy thinking, just in a different accent.

I’ve spent time in Kenya over the last two years, and Kenyan running is not one big system. There are different managements and training camps, and not all are run the same way. Many of the best runners in the world are under zero tolerance management that works to change the perception of Kenyan runners.

So before you post, do your research, and don’t throw everyone into one bucket. 🇰🇪

🚨 BREAKING: Olympic and world marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after an EPO finding.

According to the AIU, the adverse analytical finding came from an out-of-competition sample collected in Kenya before her recent Sydney Marathon win.

📌 What to know:

A provisional suspension is not a final ruling. No sanction has been imposed yet.
She is barred from competing while the disciplinary case plays out.
Jepchirchir, 33, won Olympic gold in Tokyo in 2021 and the world title last year. She also won the 2022 Boston Marathon and the 2021 New York City Marathon.
Her representative declined to comment when contacted by The Associated Press.
The Boston Athletic Association said the suspension does not affect previous Boston Marathons.

We will keep updating this story as it develops.

It’s wild how you can roll through a whole summer logging tons of miles every single week, and then the burnout hits. Suddenly, a 6-mile run feels like a massive, daunting long run.

I’ve started to recognize that these are just phases. Running has seasons, and feeling this way is completely normal.

So, no big grand plans, just letting go of the expectations and heading out for this 6-mile long run. One habit at a time. 🍂 by @runningpodcast

I always listen to marathons through a bubble. In Chicago, I took the bubble off… 👂

The sound of Pilsen neighborhood, the heavy breathing, the crowd, and other things I didn’t wanna hear… but I heard them anyway. And what a reminder that getting to suffer through 26.2 miles is a privilege.

Full tech review on the sharks run pro two will be life on Marathon Journal shortly.

What is the one sound on the course that keeps you moving when your legs quit?

HUGE thank you to @shokzusa and team for this opportunity! by @runningpodcast
