My life changing habit: RUNNING

Comparing myself 10 years ago I was a different person, with different habits.

Running has taught me many essential life lessons and skills, giving me confidence and a sense of self that I didn’t possess before I became a runner.

I am so grateful that running made me the person who I am today: SUCCESFUL AND HAPPIER as a person and in life 🙏🏼

If you are struggling with breaking your bad habits, get stuck in life, prehaps running is the answer for you.
Start running and you will change your habits and overcome all the difficulties that life throws at you.

Beside my shifted mindset, the way how I run also changed over the years as you can see I run in sandals, which makes me a minimalistic runner!

To avoid question like: is it comfortable? does it hurt? NO it feels great and familiar to run with!
It makes me a great runner, fast and strong!

Don't be affraid of them they are also a life changing habit.

My goal to break my old personal best for the half marathon last saturday to go under 1:10 was a little bit too optimistic 😅

I'm happy to say that my time for the Antwerp half marathon was 1:14 which is more realistic at this moment for me. As you all know I had less than 3 months time of preparation due my injury for this half marathon but my journey to work towards my goals is not over yet 💪🏽

The journey that I went as a runner last months to work on my goal was priceless! the progress that I made was huge, the happiness and joy get from running was amazing and the most important I don't lose my smile when I run even when I have a bad day.

What I've learned as a runner is don't dwell to much on the past or the future where you don't have control of, enjoy the journey that leads you to your destination you will see so much greatness in that.

Another thing is passion(in my case running) I believe is the key for grit and vice versa, it's the basic to pursue your goals even when you have a difficult moment. To keep this maintained you have to develop a very important lifeskill and that's resilience.

Running can help you build that lifeskill and many more other life skills such like discipline, perseverance, willpower and consistency. This can be only achieved if you enjoy the moment/journey in your training.

If you have some question about that or you have question about your training, leave a comment I will love to help!

On this beautiful day I set my first Personal Best for the 15k, I completed this 15k run in a time of 47:26! Never thought that my pace would go under the 3:10/km mark.

It was a very challenging run both physically and mentally. Running at this pace was literally killing me. Like with every challenge you want to test yourself where your boundaries are and today I faced my bounderaries.

I know when facing your limits it's not always pleasant but one thing I can assure you is you going to make your mind stronger than before! By strengthening your mind you can take on any challenges!

Your mindset is the most important factor in achieving your goals.

One piece of advice I want to give to everybody is never give up where you started, never skip a training, if you feel the motivation is gone just remember all the positive things you already achieved.

Have a beautiful evening everybody 😊

After one year of running I reached a total milage of 5000k for the year 20-21!! This is also my longest distance I ran in one year! 😃

To reach this 5000k mark I had to run a distance of 21km(half marathon), afcourse I could also spread it over the week, but I didn't.. it was pure symbolic and I love long distance running 😊

I completed the 21km in 1:19:57 with a pace of 3:47/km. I hoped for a steady pace of 3:40/km which went good for the first 12km when suddenly the lace of my right sandal broke!(swipe left to see the result of my sandal) 😭 I think the combination of rain and high pace my sandal didn't last long and broke my lace.

In this situation I could have walked home or take the bus, giving up halfway my run that's something I will NEVER do, no matter what situation.

I enjoyed my last 9km like I never broke my sandal and I ended my run with a smile what I always do 😊

Last night after working for 12hours, it was time for a night run.. the plan was to run directly from work to home which is like 6k but it was such a beautiful and peaceful night that I ran a full 16k actually it was 16.5k 🤪 running at night makes you're run more relaxed and comfortable even though it was 28 degrees 😅 beside that it really clears you're mind and you don't have any stressful thoughts after. The reason is you're day is almost over and getting stressed you normally get over day is no more at night especially when you run 😊

Sorry guys it took so long for me to post something but due to the corona all running races have been canceled and through my training and work I didn't have time either.

With this I want to show I'm still happy and doing good with my training and dailly life 🏃🏼‍♂️😁

Not running just chillin... ✌🏼 just kidding 😜 I just completed a 16k run in 59min.
I kept the pace easy and steady because my training sessions days before were very exhausting. Like tuesday I tried to run the 10k in sub 31min.. I did it almost i was just 23sec to slow 😓 so my time was 31:22min.

Tomorrow I will do a short intervaltraining of 5k with a long interval workout like 4x 800m with 200m rest it will be hard but effective to gain ur speed in a long distance run 💪🏼 Swipe left to see my detailed workouts of today and my 10k run 👉🏼 by @runningtomyhappiness

Just finished the #antwerp10miles in 52:57min 💪🏼😁 despite the weather and the wet cobblestones I did a great job.. as you know my sandals and the wet weather doesn't go well together.
It becomes very slippery so I constantly had to slow down my pace so that I wouldn't fall.. It cost me to much energy to get back my pace.. during the 16km I think I lost 1min30s.

Despite of that I'm very happy with the result, I finished 19th place over 40.000 other runners 😊

I didn't had any plans to run the marathon of Brussels, I should have normally run the half marathon of Brussels to beat mine personal best which is 1:10:38.
I changed my mind 2 months ago when a friend @jos.vde did a great job with his training.. he followed my advice and training program very good I also supported/coached him during his training.
I felt that it was my duty to support him also during his first marathon, what I saw was much beter than trying to beat my pb. I saw a strong person with perseverance! he has given everything he has to complete the marathon to a good end and he finished it in a time of 3h44min. Thats an amazing time for someone who rain his first marathon.

People look surprised when they see me running with my #lunasandals 😄 the looks on there faces is hilarious 😂
As you can see I keep the pace to follow the leadrunners but somewhere in the park I had to let them go and forced myself to run my own pace.. there was so much sand and little rocks that I was afraid to lose my sandal during the race(my sandals are wornout 😬) After I tried to recover the lost time in vain I ended the race in 3th place with 33 minutes just 20 seconds difference of the first place.

Swipe right to see some more actionshots 😁
