For a while I used to be embarrassed of my scar and hid it by wearing scarves but now I'm proud ⁣⁣

On September of 2016 I was headed to the hospital to get my thyroid taken out. I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Even though it's been a few years you never really are the same person you were before. Hearing the words you have cancer changes everything. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
People with thyroid disorders often have emotional or mental health symptoms as well as physical symptoms. Thyroid hormone helps your body use energy and keeps your brain, heart, nerves and muscles doing their job. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I now depend on life long medication and lots of doctor visits to make sure it doesn't come back. ⁣⁣
The reason I'm sharing my story is because today is WORLD THYROID DAY. ⁣⁣

Took two days off as I was so tired but today my body was ready for this. Enjoyed every minute and also may have died a bit 😂 by @runningwithoutathyroid

By far the toughest workout to date. At 11 weeks postpartum I had 10 min warm up followed by 15 min at 9:45/mi and 10 min cool down. It was a sweaty one 🥲 by @runningwithoutathyroid

Really enjoying my treadmill and the convenience of it being in the basement. Years ago I hated the treadmill but today it’s my saving grace as it’s hard to get out the house with two children 😆⁣⁣

It took us about an hour to get out of the house, but we did it! Starting off slow with a 20 minute run. I’m officially 8 weeks postpartum and I’m feeling great. Enjoying my runs with no pressure and just simply getting out there. by @runningwithoutathyroid
