With one of my favorite people #runstreakshirley

The air quality was bad & I have treadmill access... so we basically camped out here for 3 days.
19.5 miles for me & 38 miles for her🥵💪✌️

Life is so much better when we have friends to help us achieve our goals!

We have big runs coming up with Loopy Looper @endlessendurance @loopylooperultras in 2 weekends & my debut as an ultra crew in the fall at @javelinajundred - where we will party in the desert with some of our other Philly girl gang💋💋💋

My advice = find your people, love then hard, & say YES to all the adventures😘

We CAN do hard things.

4 years ago today the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade ending the Constitutional right to abortion.

In July 2022, I put together this #StravaArt run to come together after such a detrimental ruling. This video is footage of the beautiful community that came out in support of our rights.

Since that day, I had a medical abortion & am so grateful to live in a state that still believes in a reproductive freedom and rights.

All future generations deserve to have bodily autonomy to make choices that make sense for them and their health, regardless of the state in which they live.

Year 3 using my Broad St Run
to raise funds & awareness for @the_everywhere_project ✌️

Because it is ALWAYS #morethanthemiles ✌️

I answered Galen's call from a porta potty 💋
<new friendship level unlocked🤣>
Galen, Shirley, & I met up at the start.
We ran the first half together.
Thank you for the jello shots half way @museyogafitness 👁🙏💪
And linked up at the end along with #theeverywhereproject co-founder Shannon🫶

Shirley & I spent some time telling Shannon about how special this org is to us: how we love the mission, how they execute it, & build community.

Days like this are everything: seeing all my friends, running for a cause near to my heart, making plans to all be together in the future via run-adventures & other ways to support each other.

Reminder to sign up for either weekly outreach or volunteer for kit making, & come to the 5 year anniversary party on May 27th in Love Park.

RUNNING IS POLITICAL

We MUST rally to support @queerrun x @lezrun about equity at @philly_marathon 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

If you have been around for a while, you know they have been demanding equity for YEARS! I first heard about this in summer 2023 & then a few of us used our Philly Marathon races to protest & bring awareness to this issue. Here we are, years later.

ACTION ITEMS:
1. Swipe through the slides.
2. Read the letter in my bio & QueerRun & LezRun's bio.
3. Sign letter in bio.
4. Follow these groups for other ways to support equity at OUR marathon events.

In this fight with y'all because we should all be able to show up as ourselves in our city at the starting line.

Marathon # 12 ➡️ @lamarathon

I fundraised $1585 for @doworkorg who works alongside individuals in Haiti, Taiwan, Guatemala & beyond to provide good, dignified jobs through recycle collection. WORK also supoorts their families with other wrap around services. The recycled plastics collected is turned into fabric that gets made into clothing! The athletes who ran LAM were gifted tank tops made from plastics (shown in my reel) & it is SOFT & a beautiful color!

I was happy to be running for WORK. As usual, I went through all the emotions while on the course to include declaring my retirement from this horrid distance...only to reflect the following day that I will be returning for a redemption LAM & once again fundraising for WORK in 2027🤣

Highlight of mile 5 was seeing this cat cheering 😻
Highlight of mile 8 was chasing down Zoe to sidle up to him at mile 9 @notyouraveragerunner_267 🫶
Highlight of the rest of the course was saying hi to all the legacy participants & frogleaping with Rick ➡️ an 88 year old wheelchair participant who has completed EVERY SINGLE LA MARATHON & PLANS TO DO ANOTHER 9 SO HE CAN DO 50 IN A ROW #inspiring

In my 19 years of running, my least favorite distance is 26.2. I prefer ultras or relay races. But sometimes, what we love the least is what challenges us to grow the most. Here's to another marathon finished & all these lessons I learned along the way💋💋💋

Loudly & Proudly advocating for rights for all

We stand against the Immigration & Customs Enforcement agency:
their human rights violations,
aggressive enforcement tactics,
injuries/deaths caused by these agents/detentions of individuals,
& demand accountability for all these actions.

Shirley wanted to bring some whimsy to our protest, so we wore our onesies & used these 2 runs to show our city that they are not alone in their feelings & that we are in this together. Until we come out the other side.

Used our run as a protest against ICE
because it is always #morethanthemiles

Not captured: the honks, smiles, waves, & 1 quiet thumbs up we received as we did this run today, thanks to Shirley's sign.

Not captured: the man who spoke to us after we recorded our video chant saying he is from MN & still has community there.

Not captured: when we 3 + 2 ladies walking down the street helped a women in her car get out of a snowed-in spot *the power of women & community*

Not captured: How I felt every time we had a momentary interaction with a stranger on our run -> HOPE for our collective future, country, & city. 250 years later, the time to change is NOW.

Sharing to remind us that we all can do SOMETHING. We run: to raise awareness, connect to community, & to show solidarity.

In this together
because we are all connected.

Your struggle is my struggle.

Come hang for a good cause @lovecitybrewing

We met in 2019 when we both signed up to run across the country of Haiti to raise funds to support families in Haiti @doworkorg 🇭🇹 While that event was canceled, we have been involved with WORK in some capacity ever since! And this spring, we will run the LA Marathon on WORK's fundraiser team!

We are gathering at Love City Brewing at 12pm, ON SATURDAY 1/31, to hang/eat/drink/connect & to raffle off tickets to win prizes. *Proceeds from the tickets go to Emi's fundraiser.

Can't attend, but want to support? Donate any amount to Emi's fundraiser (Link in both our bios). Donations to Emi over $26.20 made before Sat will be entered into a raffle to win a private yoga session with me🙏
