It’s official!! We’ve FINALLY been granted planning permission to expand @allmyfriends.uk !!

I started working on this at the end of 2024 and it’s been an absolute slog to get it over the line with the council. Delays every step of the way, a truly painful process having missed two summers of peak trade while paying for a useless plot of waste land. The planning system is so unfit for purpose, how can businesses invest in conditions like this? It’s enough to put anyone off doing anything. What we thought would take a few months will have taken a couple of years by the time we open. Stay tuned for more details coming soon, but for now I’m just stoked to finally have that piece of paper 📄

As Hackney Wick is actually a conservation area, I went for a traditional saw tooth roof style, with west facing sky lights that will capture the beautiful sunset enjoyed by our terrace. Crittall windows and doors round off the industrial look, and to soften it all up, plenty of plants. The interior palette is still being developed but there will be more on that soon. Can’t wait to see this one come together!!

8 years of @thecauselondon ...WTF just happened? 🤯

We never really dreamt of having a proper nightclub

Then one day, just took on a warehouse, opened some doors, needed somewhere to throw a few parties

One thing led to another...

Somehow, 8 years later, we've ended up with this ridiculously huge f#cking superclub...

Not one of them 90's ones backed by zillionaires.. though yeah trance has sneaked back in!

Despite the al fresco dancing, nowhere close to the Ibiza ones .. though somehow we've blagged the occassional plane to fly over the crowd like DC10!
🛩🤡

The Cause is our own flavour..

LDN in its DNA - A proper space for the city that will go down in acid house history for the second time 🤩

... a 100% independent,100% DIY, festival sized beast of a MEGA club!!!

London's biggest outdoor dancefloor & our latest addition The Workshop has unlocked new levels📶

Built by us, our friends & a wonderful bunch of people that simply overwhelms us🫠

We have nearly 150 people working on Saturdays show... we"d barely pull 150 customers when we started 8 years ago!!!!

THANK YOU ALL 🙏🤍

Building a club from scratch once was tough!

Doing it twice is MENTAL

We tried 4 industrial sites since closing Ashley Road, VERY nearly gave up, but thankfully our golden goose in E16 came through!

The N17 closing was INSANE

The growth is INSANE

The talent that passes through is INSANE

8 dancefloors, 36hr+ parties, 10am starts 🤯

Like WTF ?!?! 😂😂

The culture & communities that host shows here for ravers of all flavours continues to educate us & the next generation of UK club culture.

Bars, pubs, mini clubs & record shops to build community & spread the volatility all spawned off!

Glasto adventures, sailing the Adriatic seas, collobarating with new & past party people from across the world!

Not bad for a few wallys that met in a bar called TIPSY🤣

📸 from our 2026 Gala takeover. Papa Smurf got stitched up by the ice cream van! Watch out for dem slushies party peops 👅

Swipe for memories!

Tomorrow we celebrate another year round the sun ☀️

10AM-10AM: 24 HRS - MAD LINEUP!

Get your protein shakes in, its a marathon not a sprint 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

It’s something that can often be overlooked when you’re in the thick of it at a rave space, but we wanted to take this time to shine a light on just how much time, love, blood, sweat and tears go into creating spaces for us all to dance, as well as some of the upgrades that they have made happen since our last dance together.

Firstly, we’ve had a major overhaul of the sound in both our courtyard and original warehouse space, with 100% new Danley and D&B Audio systems installed in each space respectively.

The christening of a new dancefloor within our complex, for the first time ever we introduce ‘workshop’. We’re clearing out the tools and transforming the room for what will be a rare occasion to dance in this space, kitted out with a custom booth and light installation.

Additionally, we’ve made multiple tweaks, upgrades, licks of paint, decor and more across the rest of the site, installing more bars, toilets and other amenities to make your day as smooth as possible.

We can’t wait to open our doors but ahead of that heres to you, the sound techs, light techs, labourers, builders, plumbers, set designers, bar staff, kitchen teams, cleaners and all the behind the scenes team, they’re the real headliners here, the true warroirs…

If you see them on the dancefloor tomorrow, make sure you buy them a drink as we wouldn’t exist without them x taken in The Cause by @rupit__mild

We’ve never been very good at staying in one lane…

What started as a one-room pulse in Totty, grew into something that refused to sit still. We shifted walls, took on new homes and expanded from just a club. Bending spaces space into whatever the moment demanded, from intimate dancefloors to bars, record shops to your next top music video or just the casual late-night confessional.

Now we go again.

We’ve peeled back the layers of our trusty club workshop to create an industrial blank canvas for your creativity to thrive. Whether you’re a location scout on the lookout for the next Guy Ritchie gangster flick or an up and coming artist looking to film a music video, this space has you covered. Measuring 43m in length, 9m wide and a whopping 9m ceiling height, it’s perfect for everything from shoots, builds exhibitions and pop ups.

And every now and then, we’ll flip the switch and let it dance. Starting with our Easter Friday show, which is creeping up fast and set for a sell out.

New ideas. New rooms.
Just finding more ways to make this thing breathe.

8 YEARS AGO TODAY

These 3 wallies were waiting outside a Haringey Council committee hearing, ready for the fate of The Cause to be decided

We weren’t on the ball back then, flying by the seat of our pants (as Stus old bank manager told him), have no photos, so this one is from 2019, a year later, picking up a DJMag award for Innovation & Excellence

We somehow thought the logical sequence was

1) build a nightclub
2) apply for a licence
3) advertise our 1st party for the next day after the licence hearing

Makes complete sense eh?

He who dares Rodders!

For those that dont know, the guy in the middle is the understated hero behind The Cause

A renegade rave guru, born from the trenches, saving the rave, one licence at a time, in the most wiggliest, wonderful, slightly sneaky, somehow still legit way possible

On this day, he wasn’t wearing a cape, nor a technicolour dreamcoat but a prehistoric flared suit, looking like an extra from 80s Scottish TV detective drama Taggart!

He had an answer for EVERYTHING, gave as good as he got to the one resident that turned up to kill The Cause before it even started

The old bill seemed happy with our proposal, but the head of licensing wasn’t buying it

He defended us tooth & nail, talking embarrassingly FAR too much!

It was a close call. The council waited 7 days to let us know

We cancelled our party the next day

1 week later, an email droped

5AM licence granted🏆

GAME ON🔥

The Cause was born!

On our 1st Birthday, Rhys ate an out of date custard tart, knocked himself out with food poisoning & missed celebrations

Big ❤️ Rhys, forever thankful

If you catch him at a party however, be warned..

He WILL tell you how he's been granted 2 billion licences in the last year, the intricacies of how he did it, local environmental health officers names over the last 2 decades, how many pages he included in his latest licensing application & HOURS more chat about everything else he dedicates his life to - winning premises licences for the underground

Rhys: rave licensing superhero🫡

PS
Were STILL taking silly risks. Come Easter Fri to found out😉

WE JUST GOT NOMINATED FOR BEST MAJOR VENUE BY BBC RADIO 1

Back in its heyday, BBC Radio1 was a major component of shaping UK underground music as we know it.

The station played a foundational role in bringing dance and electronic music from the underground rave scene into the UK mainstream during the 1990s and 2000s, with evening to morning programming switching traditional broadcasting to embracing youth culture, turning niche genres like house, techno, drum and bass, and trance into weekend staples and chart-topping hits.

Undoubtedly the station was crucial in giving exposure to artists such as The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers & Daft Punk.

The station acted as a bridge between rave culture and mainstream society and in many ways legitimised our culture when some authorities we’re trying to kill it.

Listening to the Essential Selection & Essential Mix in a Ford Fiesta with one too many pals in for the number of seats, en route to a big fat Friday rave was a right of passage.

Raving week in, week out, listening to the same DJ’s on the station as you would in clubs around the country.

Later it became deeply intertwined with the Ibiza club scene, broadcasting live from the island and solidifying its role as a tastemaker for the summer’s biggest dance tracks.

The 2000s saw the rise of UK garage, trance, and house, with Radio 1 providing dedicated airtime to these genres through specialised shows and the continued popularity of the Essential Mix.

It’s heritage status really does hold weight. Both our founders and our amazing team are incredibly proud to be recognised for their graft behind the scenes by something so integral to shaping UK dance music.

How it started vs how it’s going…

Unit 1 Hamlet Industrial Estate, 96 White Post Lane all that way back in Summer ‘22. A space that little did we know would go on to become a crown jewel in the handful of venues under The Cause umbrella. At this point we didn’t have an exact plan... no name, no real idea of the concept, in fact at this point, we weren’t even sure where to put the bar.

Originally intended as a three month pop-up, now gearing up to celebrate three years, our baby All My Friends is growing up fast.

To mark the occasion we’re throwing a massive party (obvs) which will take place across a full day and night, with an extended closing time. A record fair, food, DJs and more in the day, a big old party by night with some very special guests joining us - revealed later this week.

Our birthday also stands as an opportunity to give back to all of you guys for supporting over the years, so hit the link in bio now to RSVP for the day and get a free drink on us to raise a toast to us reaching such a milestone. taken in All My Friends by @rupit__mild

It’s nearly time. The rays are low, Autumn’s creeping in but don’t mistake the fading light for the end…this is just the start.

The Cause is ready for the night, where our real love story lies. The shadows are honest, the strobes don’t lie, and hope feels heavier when it’s carried by basslines. This Saturday we take one last dance in the sun before stepping fully into a new season. We are set with systems primed, just the night is waiting.

Halloween and NYE are next in line to call. Final pre-sale tickets are live till next week. They won’t stick around.

Around July last year, The Marquee Moon was still a dusty dream in The Cause’s mind with paint drying, screws missing, Eugene pacing around like a man who’s just realised how long a “quick refurb” really takes. Then last August rolled in… the lights came on, the first pints were poured, the first plates flew out, and that opening night? Simply pure joy, awe and relief in the best way possible.

Since then, it’s been a year of full tables, empty glasses, big tunes and even bigger smiles. We’ve seen first dates, last dates, reunions, birthdays, weddings, celeb hangouts, Sunday roasts, Deli sub slinging and Pink Marg marathons (god they were good. Plus, enough dancefloor moments to fill a very questionable polaroid photo wall. To everyone who’s walked through our doors (whether for one drink or to “just pop in” and leave at 2am) we thank you. You’ve made this little corner of Dalston something special.

Huge love to our staff (honestly legends) to our leaders Rosa and Huri, to the pourers, the plate carriers, the playlist hijackers, the ones who remember your order before you open your mouth, and the ones who’ve convinced you that “one more” was always a good idea. And of course, to Stuart and Eugene the bosses who just keep on dreaming (although somebody stop them soon!).

This Saturday we’re celebrating all of it. DJs on two floors, drinks on repeat, and a full house of the people who’ve made this year what it is. First birthday, but feels like the start of something even bigger. You just have to be there x taken in Dalston by @rupit__mild

The Marquis to the Moon...

Can you believe it’s nearly a year since we opened the doors to The Marquee Moon back in August ’24? We’re throwing a big ol’ birthday bash to mark the occasion but truth be told, that’s not really where this story began...

The bosses (just look at those grins!) picked up the keys to the then-dormant Marquis N16 some nine months before that. A classic boozer in need of some TLC and a fresh start. We started dusting away, chopping at the bar forming a new shape but as always there was a bigger vision and, as always, a million and one things to sort, before it could come to life.

What was meant to be a March opening quickly turned into a game of delays, dodgy electrics and all the usual Grand Designs chaos we loved to watch but never wanted to endure. It took a few more months, a few more setbacks, and more than a few deep breaths but eventually, we got there. The doors opened, the lights went on, and our version of The Marquee was finally ready to meet the neighbourhood.

So no, it doesn’t really feel like our first birthday. It feels bigger. It feels like something we grafted hard for and now, we want to celebrate that with all of you. Next Saturday, we’re throwing our biggest party yet with DJs on two floors for the first time ever, a full house of friends and family, and enough booze to float the moon itself.

Oh, and a free drink for everyone who RSVPs (link in bio, yada yada yaddaaa… you know what to do).

We’ll be warming up from the afternoon, dancing into the early hours, and raising a glass to vision, patience, a couple more grey hairs for Eug & Stu and the joy of finally getting there in the end. Come celebrate with us x taken in Dalston, Hackney by @rupit__mild
