⁨ كنت فاكر إني أول ما أرجع من السلوم هكتب كتير…
هحكي عن المشاعر اللي عديت بيها لأول مرة هناك
عن الحزن الي في المكان رغم جماله الرهيب

لكن اكتشفت ان الكلام مش هيكون كفايه ابداً

كل اللي أقدر أقوله إني ممتن إني زورت مكان زي ده
حتى لو كانت الزيارة قصيرة

⁨ نشأت في بيئة ملتزمة لها طابع خاص، وتحديدًا بالتزام نسائها باللباس الشرعي «النقاب»، وعشت أرى كيف أن هناك تفاصيل وصورًا تُحكى لعامة الناس، مختلفة تمامًا عن حقيقتها.

كبرت وأنا أرى نظرات الاستغراب والتشويه مستمرة عبر وسائل الإعلام، وحتى المشاريع الفنية تعمل بكل طاقتها لتشويه هذه الصورة الجميلة التي أعرف وحدي رونقها، وكل من يشاركني هذا يعرف هذا الشعور كذلك.

وأنا أرى كيف يُفسد الجانب الإعلامي هذه المساحة الخلّاقة، باتهامها بالتقييد، والدعوة إلى تحرر المرأة منها.

وسط كل هذا، فاجأتنا أختي الصغيرة، ذات الـ17 عامًا، بعد عودتها من العمرة، بقرارها ارتداء النقاب.

هذه الجميلة أعادت نشاط الدم من جديد، وعلى المستوى الشخصي، لي ولأخي وللعائلة، رجّعت جوانا مشاعر افتقدناها من سنين،
وكأن مشاعر قديمه في روح العيلة عادت من جديد.

I grew up in a devout environment with its own distinct character, particularly in the way its women observed the Islamic dress code, wearing the niqab. I grew up witnessing how stories and images were presented to the public, often bearing little resemblance to the reality I knew.

As I grew older, I continued to witness the looks of surprise and the distortion of this image across the media. Even artistic projects seemed determined to misrepresent something beautiful, whose grace I had come to know firsthand, as had others who shared this experience.

I watched as the media distorted this space of expression, portraying it as restrictive and calling for women to free themselves from it.

Amid all of this, my younger sister, at just 17, surprised us after returning from Umrah with her decision to wear the niqab.

This beautiful soul brought something back to life within us. On a personal level, for my brother, myself, and our entire family, she rekindled feelings we had not felt in years, as though something long dormant in the soul of our family had begun to live again.⁩ taken in Egypt by @rushdy0

‘Faces disappear, and bodies remain. I always feel a desire to escape, and another desire to hide. I do not know what I am running from, or where I am trying to go. But I see this feeling in many of the faces I pass every day. These images revolve around a simple question: has escape and silence become a part of our lives?
These photographs are not about unknown people. They are about a feeling I see everywhere I go, a feeling of sadness, a feeling of distance, as if everyone is carrying something they cannot say. Sometimes I feel as if nothing is happening, and that silence is everything. But whenever I look at these people, I see my own escape in them, and I see that what I am living is not far from what they are living. This project is a space for reflecting on the silence of the city.
Perhaps these images are not about other people.
Perhaps they don’t tell the story of others.
Perhaps they tell our story —
as we live between escape and silence.’

تختفي الوجوه وتبقى الأجساد.
أشعر دائمًا برغبة في الهروب، ورغبة أخرى في الاختباء. لا أعرف ممّا أهرب ولا إلى أين أذهب، لكنني أرى هذا الشعور في وجوه كثيرة أمر بها كل يوم.
تدور هذه الصور حول سؤال بسيط: هل أصبح الهروب والصمت جزءًا من حياتنا؟
هذه الصور ليست عن أشخاص مجهولين، بل عن شعور أراه في كل مكان: حزن، وابتعاد، وصمت.
هذا المشروع مساحة للتأمل في صمت المدينة.
ربما لا تحكي هذه الصور عن الآخرين.
