5 Tangos with @peteraweil
Earlier this week, Hans van Manen passed. I was fortunate to dance two of his works—this one, and Hammerklavier. Grateful for the chance to have performed such brilliant ballets. #hansvanmanen #philadelphiaballet by @russellducker

An appreciation post for @rondeepuppets whose fun, fuzzy, kinetic puppets help bring “Peter and the Wolf” to life.

- The duck has wheeled feet that flap. These are removable to create the illusion of swimming.

- Held aloft, the bird’s wings flap open and closed as in flight.

- The Wolf, operated by two dancers, jumps, prowls, blinks its eyes and opens its mouth.

Each puppet incorporates bunting and scout uniform fabric to tie them to their campsite setting. by @russellducker

This Thursday ‘Dance Card’ has its Academy of Music premiere. I would like to take a minute to thank not only the cast performing tomorrow, but also the original cast who worked so hard throughout the pandemic to make this ballet. Having been starved of art, these videos clearly capture our collective optimism as we reunited in the studio. We may have been separated in pods and covered by masks, but my memories of this time are ones of connection, hope and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to see this piece bought to life again by the exceptional artists of the @philadelphiaballet. Come see us Thursday through Sunday! by @russellducker

Tomorrow the @schoolofphiladelphiaballet premieres PETER AND THE WOLF. The first of several performances to take place around Philadelphia. It’s the first time I’ve choreographed a story ballet - and I’ve had a blast! This lovely publicity art was created by Alex Barrett. by @russellducker
