This year, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of @new_rock_city , the festival found a new home in London @signaturebrewe8 and in Birmingham @theflapper 🤘 Independent musicians from across the world got to bare their heart and soul on stage performing to packed venues and this is what it is all about.For some bands, they flew across the Atlantic or drove up to 30 hours across mainland Europe to perform. For others, they got an opportunity to play to their friends and family in their home town. It's such a beautiful community in this international grassroots festival ❤️ None of this would be possible without people buying those tickets so thank you so much for turning out in such great numbers!Our whole business exists to support grassroots music and we are incredibly proud to be able to support New Rock City in the UK and The States. We were on @somervalleyfm community radio today talking about emerging artists, about how @tonymoore is coming to @frome.festival (Wed 8 July) just days before he performs at Knebworth, and the problems in the music industry that we are trying to fix 🙏 You've got six days to listen (link in our stories, we are an hour in)...Listen out for radio play for @priddicebrothers @tonymoore @catroseofficial and @iamcammybarnes as well as chat about @thetunnelsfrome and @frome.festival We've been invited back for live sessions, does anyone from or playing in Somerset want to be on the radio with us? When we say we help independent musicians, sometimes we mean quite literally 😜 What an end to an incredible night, a fundraiser @barrelhousetotnes for @musicvenuetrust. The total is yet to be counted. With grassroots venues being lost at an alarming rate, we all need to buy tickets for grassroots music before we lose it. IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY and we are so smooth... Well when we say we're a human-curated music discovery platform and soon-to-be app, we mean it... Misfired confetti timing and all 😂 In all seriousness though, what a year it's been and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support you've given us. It's not easy trying to change the music industry for the better but nothing worth doing ever is. We're a small team but we are a small team who don't gatekeep! Less than two weeks to go before the @musicvenuetrust fundraiser @barrelhousetotnes on 1 May which we are proudly supporting 🙌Championed by @lukenotmanmusic @3daysofwonder this gig will see all proceeds go to MVT to aid their work in securing, protecting and improving grassroots music venues.All musicians have to start somewhere and yet opportunities are diminishing in person due to the closure of venues and online, due to a few gatekeeping at the top holding the cards.... We here at Sonar Presents will soon be launching a music discovery app to provide an ethical platform for independent artists. Grassroots venues are key to giving these artists a platform in real life, all feeding into the grassroots music ecosystem. These venues are the lifeblood of communities. Been a busy old week (well, 9 days)...🎶 From stage managing @thewurzels and two sold old shows with @kpop.superstars to visiting @ash_a.l in Wales and venue hunting with @eventfuljade ! 🤘Then there was @hunchpower and @onefallma playing at Exchange in Bristol.🕯️Another beautiful candlelight concert with @xperienceliveuk in Taunton 🏅And finally this weekend in Brighton for the 2026 Marathon!🤯Oh yeah, and I saw the @sonar_presents app for the first time..... Sonar Presents was a business built out of the need for support for independent artists and the grassroots music scene. Our business is new but our team is not 😆 And when people join forces to push for change, good things can happen. Our music discovery app launches to trial users this month, what a way to celebrate our first anniversary!Is this easy? No 😂 Is anything worth anything usually easy? No 😛Are we doing it anyway? Yes 🤘But we don't work alone because we don't gatekeep. Community is everything so supporting us means supporting the wider grassroots community. Your £4 will be appreciated more than we can express.
