What a weekend at @deka.fit Chicago.

After winning the Adult/Youth World Championship last year, Cate and I aged into the Adult Division this season and finished 4th—just one spot off the podium. While we’d have loved to bring home some hardware, I couldn’t be more proud of what this weekend represented.

Watching Cate line up against competitors two and three times her age and compete with confidence, determination, and grit was the real victory. She never backed down, and she proved she belongs.

One of the funniest moments of the weekend? More than one person asked if we were racing as a brother-and-sister team. I’ll gladly take that compliment… and I don’t think Cate minded either. 😄

To top it all off, Cate got to meet @lauren_e_weeks —someone she looks up to in the sport. Seeing her excitement made an already memorable weekend even better.

So proud of you, Cate! This may have been our first race in the Adult Division, but it definitely won’t be our last.

What an unforgettable experience at the @deka.fit World Championships this weekend!

Cate and I walked in with the top qualifying time in the world, and walked out as World Champions in the Adult/Youth Coed Division!!! 🏅

Cate showed unbelievable heart. Every zone, every rep - she dug in, pushed harder, and proved what grit and determination look like. I’m proud of her in a way that’s hard to put into words. Hats off to the Wang family and our fellow competitors for pushing us and not making it easy.

Huge thank you to @yancyculp, the DEKA community, and to all of our friends and family for the incredible support. This was truly a team effort, but sharing this moment with Cate made it something even more meaningful - something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.

Life got busy, IG got quiet, but this weekend reminded me why I love fitness.

A new position, the return to the office full-time, the chaos in DC, and ultimately the difficult decision to leave GSA have taken up most of my focus this past year. Training has taken a backseat, and just finding consistency week to week has been a challenge.

Cate and I signed up for @deka.fit Midwest months ago with every intention of me training hard through the summer. But life had other plans.

What happened next made me prouder than any personal fitness achievement: Cate absolutely dominated! She carried me, pushed me, and together we took 1st in the adult/youth co-ed division.

Even better, we currently hold the fastest qualifying time in the WORLD, which means we’re headed to the World Championships in Fort Lauderdale this December.

Winning was great, but sharing it with her meant everything.

Some victories are measured in miles, others in moments. 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️♥️

Life’s funny… my fitness routine has been completely upside down this year, but somehow I hit a new Murph Rx PR: 35:36.💥

Had a nice little Sunday morning pacing my daughter to her first win at the neighborhood 5K!

As someone wired to compete, it’s a feeling full of pride, joy, and adrenaline. But more than the race, it’s about the process.

Having someone who wants to train, push herself, and chase big goals with me… that’s the real win.

Cate’s just getting started — next stop: her first @deka.fit with her sights set on qualifying for Worlds as an adult/teen team.

The past few months have been a season of change.

Work shifted gears hard — new administration, full-time back in the office, and major cuts to staff, including friends and people who helped shape my career. The emotional toll has been exhausting, leaving a lot less time (and energy) to pour into training the way I’m used to.

Truth is, training has taken a back seat. I’m still showing up, still putting in the work when I can, but it’s different. And because of that, @hyroxamerica isn’t happening for me this season.

It stings, but it’s part of life.

Sometimes the path you mapped out gets rerouted — and you either fight it or roll with it. I’m rolling with it.

This chapter’s about showing up even when it’s messy, staying consistent when it’s not perfect, and trusting it’s all part of a bigger picture.

I’m not done. Just recalibrating.

Ever since returning from the HYROX World Championships, I’ve been struggling with motivation and focus in my training. While life and work have been the focus, the reality is that my race didn’t go as planned and was a huge disappointment. It’s been tough to reignite that fire. But with the announcement that HYROX Worlds are coming to my hometown of Chicago, that spark is back.
