Maui to Molokai. 30 miles across the Pailolo channel. I’m extremely grateful for the privilege, access, ability, and opportunity to participate in this crossing. Many thanks to Clare Mawae and the rest of the @m2molokaichallenge team for making it possible.

I played this race very conservatively. After these shots were taken, I didn’t see a boat or person for 2.5 hours. Plenty of time to be in the moment contemplating planned and unplanned outcomes. I’m extremely humbled and grateful to have made it across safely.

Mad respect to everyone who participated in this race particularly to @zaniac1 @conbax @annie__starr and @kanedewilde who took the wins in their divisions. Special shout out to @spencer_b_bailey for being my wing man on this trip, @roxscully for the love and support, @erikaederphotography for the photos, @keithbaxter for the ride back, and to Cin and JC of the Maliko Shuttle for the upwind transports. Can’t wait to do it again next year. 🤙

“We pay the most attention to the task at hand when the challenge of that task slightly exceeds our skill set. This is one of the ways of finding flow. To do this work and get good at it, you have to be comfortable with the idea of being uncomfortable.” - Steven Kotler “Living in Flow”

Whether we’re playing or working we’re at our best when we’re in flow.

“There are 3 things we can do about planetary warming. 1) We need to reduce and cease net carbon dioxide emissions over time. 2) We need to protect and restore the enormous stores of carbon contained in our forests, wetlands, grasslands, salt marshes, oceans, and soils. And 3) we need to bring carbon from the atmosphere back to earth by sequestering carbon dioxide.” - Paul Hawken

Happy earth day/month/year/life everyone.

Wanna fast track your kite progression? Make your way down to the Outer Banks and ask for @reiderdecker at @hisswaves. With consistent winds and shallow water, four or five days is all you’ll need to set your foundation and build some confidence with the most knowledgeable and hospitable crew on the island.
