I did not have a big brother growing up, but when I moved west at 19 and started running rivers I found a few. Peter Fox and his friends were part of a really small community of people that began pushing hard at the edges of what was possible in a raft. In today’s world it would probably be illegal. Much of that exploration happened with paying passengers in the front of the boat. It’s one thing to hang it out there yourself, but it is next level to do that with the responsibility of guiding.

I was of the generation that followed, and while we pushed things farther, the curve was nowhere near what my friends Peter, Brad, Danny, Michi, Janet and others experienced.

Peter wrote a book about it all. And, in terms of outdoor adventure literature, this is a book that has not yet been written.

Let the Water Do the Work is more than a book—it’s a love letter to rivers, first descents, and the soulful craft of rowing whitewater. It’s 40 years of experience on iconic rivers across four continents, from the Tuolumne to the Futaleufú, distilled into stories that remind us why we’re drawn outside in the first place.

All royalties will be donated to organizations that help conserve and protect rivers like @americanwhitewater @americanrivers and @yosemiteriversalliance
A sincere thank you in advance for supporting the book, and those actively working for rivers. So please share the link, post on social media, and leave positive reviews.

Here’s what @kevinfedarkoauthor , NYT Best Selling Author of The Emerald Mile said about Let the Water Do the Work.

“Perhaps the only thing more impressive than Fox’s rowing resume is the manner in which he seems to have poured every ounce of his insight and experience into an ode to the magic of moving water and its limitless capacity for polishing not only the rocks that impede its progress, but also the people who are drawn to—and held by—its beauty.”
