New year, better branding.

As I step into my third year of freelancing (OMG?), I took a moment to look back at the business I built for myself in 2023. How could it better reflect who I am and how I help others?

I worked with @ruthcreatesldn to design my branding, and when she paired the bold font with the cursive one, I immediately knew that was it. Because what’s more me than a mix of bold, creative personality?! 🤭🕺🪩

I could not be more excited to start the new year off with such motivation for what BB Branding can and will be, and I’m excited to share it with you. 💛

NO MORE EXCUSES! 💚

We often get into our heads about what we really want to produce, not realising that we need to delve into the mind of our consumers. When you realise that what you are producing may be inspired by you but not for you, it will free you to create freely.

You can create something from an inspiration and not necessarily be it’s only target audience. Some people create from passions and not only their individual experiences therefore creating with knowledge not only sentiment.

3 ways you can create what you would invest in without being it’s be all and end all :

1. Keep reminding yourself of your core values as a business owner.
2. Remember to record and keep a log of brands and businesses that have had an impact on you from a consumers perspective.
3. Create a framework for how you will ensure that what you create brings value.

Moodboard of the week : Tis the season 🥂🤍

Something I have realised is, that seasons carry memories and that is what is important. The season is the packaging for the contents, both matter but have different functions.

With seasonal branding so many cliche designs can pop up however some very unconventional designs can pop up.
It is less about the expression but more about the cause, rhyme or reason that translates into connectivity and relatability.

So I hope you enjoy this weeks design based on the holiday season full of gatherings, fashion, corporate parties, family and friends parties, champagne, wine and joyful memories to enjoy and replicate years to come or in about 4 weeks for some.

The Aesthetic without substance isn’t a complete design….. 💭

Design is a culmination of substance, storytelling, colour theory, strategy as well as design hierarchy. As a designer starting out, meant learning and relearning how to identify what my clients, but ultimately what the story needed to be complete. While online platforms makes the process look easy and glamorous the truth is, that it is beautiful not glamorous also fulfilling not easy!

The Recalibrate Podcast Cover 🎙️

@therecalibratepodcast was one of my very first podcast covers over 3 years ago now. So it was a pleasure to be the one to update as the podcast grows. The Recalibrate Podcast is a community podcast that talks about all things faith, personal growth and prophetic administration. Esther Glory journeys through principles and life lessons that are impactful and can be adapted to live in alignment to the plans and purposes of God. A place where we hear God’s voice until we become who He has created us to be and we become until we begin to do all God has called us to do.

The Recalibrate Podcast is turning 4 this November and to celebrate we will be hosting a live podcast experience. The theme of this experience is ‘The Wisdom of God’.

It’s Ok To Change Your Mind 🧠……

As you evolve your perspective is bound to change. Have we spent more time trying to remain ‘THE SAME’ so that our world remains ‘GOOD?. With our reluctance to accept change we don’t leave room for the lessons that keep us evolving, so we can experience our good days. If you fail to leave some good days as memories you might just keep repeating your bad days in order to feel good just one last time.

As creatives and as people it is ok to change your mind after experience and time. Own your transformation and your change, when you do you become proud of the lesson and less fixated on the shame of the mistake. This I learnt in business and as a young professional.

Ways to embrace change :
1. Engage with change often : on a smaller scale and larger scale
2. Keep the beauty of the outcome on your mind often
3. Document the change and share
4. Own up to the mistake and share the lesson : this is when you know you have changed
5. Forgive yourself for how confident you were with your previous mindset towards said subject

Friday’s are for review…..💭🧖‍♀️

While you want to shutdown all things to do with work, as entrepreneurs we are often met with guilt on what we ‘should or shouldn’t’ be doing. The truth is we determine what our routines will be, based on how we work. Now that can sound like a huge cop out, however I am advocating for discipline over motivation here. You need a day where you review your workload and review what you could have done better. It doesn’t need to be intense it just needs to be done.

A few ways I review my week without the intensity:

1. I work on smaller tasks that I didn’t get to work on in the week:
Within the week I know I have set project times and so however many small tasks I have accumulated tells me how to restructure my time for the next week. My aim is to restructure often so I don’t work during the weekend and or have to think about it.

2. I set up my project plan for next week :
After reviewing my projects I map out my next week. As I review, I update what needs to change based off of what didn’t work the week before.

3. Check all platforms and record WWW & EBI:
As I have gotten older this way of reviewing my projects, meetings, tasks and overall work ethic has stuck. What went well is always delightful, but what I put action to are the even better if’s.

4. Lastly I finish work early :
After completing tasks it’s always a must to take a break leading into the weekend. Rushing or falling into your weekend only intensifies your Sundays and ultimately your Mondays.

Also some days rest is required, the world will be ok 👏🏾👏🏾
