The @rutherfordlibraryfriends hosted their first annual Fall Craft Night this past week and it was an absolute blast. This year’s theme was “Frost Your Way Into Fall” and in collaboration with @sweetschefjen the first craft was cookie decorating!
•
The night was designed to bring folks together in a welcoming environment, much like your favorite cozy fall sweater, with seasonal decorations, hearty snacks, and the option to BYOB.
•
During the 2 hour session, guests were shown a handful of different beginner friendly techniques, in fall’s favorite color scheme, used to decorate 5 cookie shapes 🎃🍁🍂
•
The energy in the room was truly magical; filled with laughter, making new friends and learning a new skill! We hope the folks who joined us had as much fun as we did hosting and look forward to trying something new, next year!

Special thanks to @traderjoes Clifton for donating beverages and a gift basket, @costco for the gift cards used to purchase supplies for the snack cups, and @_iknowjen from @theagencyrutherford for the cash donation that went to baking supplies ie:butter, sugar, flour!
Funds raised go to supporting programs at the @rutherfordlibrary like; the summer reading program, the new mural in the children’s area, movie licenses, and museum passes. taken in Rutherford, New Jersey by @rutherfordlibraryfriends

An evening at one of my favorite places ( 👋🏼 @rutherfordlibrary ) taking a class taught by one of my favorite bakers/artists/humans ( 👋🏼 @sweetschefjen ) alongside one of my favorite women ( 👋🏼 @ginny.perrin ) for one of my absolute favorite causes ( 👋🏼 @rutherfordlibraryfriends ). Oh and there were cookies. It is so easy to support this town and the beautiful people in it. I still need to work a bit on my decorating. 🍪 🍁 📚 taken in Rutherford, New Jersey by @rutherfordlibraryfriends

Some projects start with a sketch. This one started with an email—and people willing to receive it with an open heart. 🌈✨

Thank you to Director Gretchen Corsillo and Children’s Librarian Mrs. Jane for welcoming me into the Rutherford Public Library and trusting me to add a little Pupurishu magic to a place that already holds so much of its own.

And a huge thank you to the Friends of the Library of Rutherford, whose support helped make this transformation possible. Thank you for investing in your library, in creativity, and in creating a space the children of Rutherford can feel belongs to them. ❤️

And the timing couldn’t have been more special.

Mrs. Jane is celebrating an incredible 55 years at the Rutherford Library—55 years of stories, children, families, imagination and service. So giving her Children’s Department a total Pupurishu takeover felt like one big celebration of everything she has poured into that space for more than half a century. 📚❤️

To the entire library staff: thank you for checking on me with every suspicious noise, bang and shimmy coming from around the corner 😂, for making sure I hadn’t fallen off a ladder, and for graciously entertaining the completely unnecessary ladder dances that apparently come standard with a Pupurishu mural installation.

But one of my favorite parts of this project was meeting the Rutherford community.

The parents who stopped to talk. The little faces peeking around corners to see what changed. The children who watched these walls slowly come to life.

And especially knowing that some of those children will now walk into their library and see themselves represented on the walls.

That part means everything to me.

Thank you, Gretchen. Thank you, Mrs. Jane. Thank you to the Friends of the Library and the entire Rutherford Library family for trusting the vision, giving me room to create, and letting Pupurishu leave a little piece of our imagination behind.

Here’s to the next generation growing up surrounded by books, color, creativity—and walls that remind them they belong in the story. 🌈📚✨

With so much gratitude,
Marjoriet
