🌊 Cinematic pop for the soul
🔨 “YOURS TO BREAK” Out Now
🎟️ 11/7 @meridianbuda (BIRTHDAY SHOW 🎂)

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This was not easy to share.

I spent nearly a year searching for a similar story before I made this decision. I couldn’t find one, so I took a risk to appease my manager.

I now know that is NOT how an artist/manager relationship works. I should have never been coerced, and I should have trusted my gut.

I left a lot of details out, including names, but you get the idea. I just want to warn my fellow artists in case this happens to you someday.

“Make Believe” has been finished for over a year. Between production, mixing, mastering, and a VERY expensive music video, there are around 50 souls who have poured into this song. Now you know why I couldn’t share it with you yet.

But on April 23rd, I’m taking back my throne 👑

Don’t EVER let anyone tell you what you what you aren’t capable of. We’re DIY-ing this bish 💅🏻

Love,
Ruthie 🩵

3 days. 2 people. 1 camera. This project was not for the faint of heart.

Yours to Break (Official Video) is out now everywhere you watch music videos 🔨

Massive thanks to @jlbizzy for agreeing to make an entire music video with zero crew and almost zero budget. Oh, and thanks for letting me smash up your wood shop 🥲

Remember that time my song was stolen from me, preventing me from releasing it along with the music video I’d spent all my business savings on? Or when someone broke my leg 3 weeks after filming, leaving me scrambling for money and motivation? Or when an alleged “label executive” told me I would never make it in this business because I was “foolish and an amateur”?

Yeah, me neither.

That’s three wins in a row at @austinspotlight 🏆

I don’t do it for the wins, but a little steam like this certainly helps keep my engine rolling 🚂

And just a friendly reminder— please don’t let the “professionals” bring you down. If you’ve got talent, you work your butt off, and you believe in your dream… you will not be stopped. I’m rooting for you 🩵

Welp, that’s a record for us. “Make Believe” is the third 35mm film music video I’ve created with @davidwells_dp and @jimmy_lindsey_asc (S/O @kodak_shootfilm 😍)

…and we got FOUR nominations 😭

I’m so proud and humbled to have the opportunity to make art on this scale with people who are just as passionate about their craft as I am.

Go team 🩵 🎞️

Til the next one 🫡
