EAST 80x70
Mixed Media on raw canvas

EAST is the direction of awakening, renewal, and new beginnings.
It is where the sun rises — where darkness slowly dissolves and the world is given back its light.

Soft shades of blue, turquoise, and misty green move through the composition like the cool air of early morning, while touches of gold, ochre, and warm peach carry the first rays of sunlight.

East is traditionally associated with the Archangel Raphael, whose name means “God heals.” His presence connects beautifully with the energy of morning: every sunrise carries the possibility of beginning again.

The flowing turquoise and blue forms evoke breath and movement, while the golden textures suggest light breaking through
The delicate black lines move across the canvas like currents of air or paths yet to be travelled. They bring direction into the openness, suggesting that the future is not fixed but waiting to unfold.

EAST is an invitation to begin.

SOUTH 80x 70
mixed media on raw canvas

www.ruthsaidely.com

SOUTH is part of a four-part journey through the cardinal directions.

Radiant currents of crimson, fiery orange, golden yellow, and coral sweep across the canvas with the intensity of a summer sun.
At the heart of the composition, deep red gathers into a powerful core a pulse of life, passion, and creative energy.

The colors seem to expand beyond the center
as if something within is awakening, unfolding, and reaching toward the light.

Here, the presence of the angel Michael reveals itself — guardian of courage, strength, and protection

The South belongs to the element of Fire
and the season of Summer
a time when life reaches its greatest intensity, when light is abundant and nature exists in its fullest expression.

The South is both fierce and life-giving.

It is the realm of vitality, passion, courage, and self-expression
where inner fire becomes movement and energy becomes creation.

The South is not simply a direction. It is the fire within us that dares to become visible.

NORTH 70x80cm 2026
mixed media on raw canvas

www.ruthsaidely.com

NORTH marks the beginning of a four-part journey through the cardinal directions.

Deep ultramarine, glacial blue, and luminous white surge across the canvas like northern winds carving their way through ancient ice
Black forms anchor the composition with elemental strength, while subtle traces of gold suggest a hidden light waiting to be discovered.

At its center, a circular form appears like a compass, a celestial eye, or the memory of the Polar Star — a silent guide within the turbulence. Here, the presence of the angel Uriel reveals itself. Guardian of wisdom, illumination, and inner direction.
His light does not dispel the storm; it teaches us how to move through it.

The North is not the absence of movement.
It is the force that shapes direction. taken in Munich, Germany by @ruthxart

It brings the powerful & melancholic feeling to the canvas that I started with.
There is a perfect word for this in Portuguese

've hung it up in the bedroom.

It's the first look and the last I have.

I just wanted to distract myself with painting while dealing with back pain.

“vulnerable” 2026
100x 100 cm
Mixed media
**Vulnerable** reveals a figure emerging from layers of paint as if she has been uncovered rather than painted.
The surface itself carries wounds — scratched, broken, exposed — mirroring the fragility of the naked female form.

What is hidden beneath becomes visible through damage.
The canvas and the woman both bear traces of vulnerability, turning pain into presence, and destruction into revelation.
