Watching an idea become a real product never gets old.

A while ago I shared the creative process behind this project for @dbstf. Almost forgot to post this unboxing video that @scantraxx sent me. 🫶🏻

This limited edition “The Best Of” vinyl box brings the artwork to life, with four vinyl sleeves combining into one complete piece. It’s always amazing to see the finished product exactly as it was envisioned.

Who here owns this limited edition vinyl box? I’d love to know! by @ruudvaneijkdesign

Lately I’ve been creating collages using children’s drawings and somewhere along the way I fell in love with their imperfections.

That inspired me to experiment with a completely different direction: an unofficial Defqon.1 Kids merchandise concept.

For the past 15 years I’ve been designing merchandise, so combining that experience with this playful, imperfect style has been incredibly fun. And honestly… I think it works. 🐉

This is only the beginning. I have a lot more ideas and can’t wait to explore this style further.

What do you think?

And @q_dance @defqon1 … if you’re watching … let’s talk 😉 taken in Defqon 1 - Biddinghuizen by @ruudvaneijkdesign

Hi, I’m Ruud van Eijk. Graphic designer, art director & creative thinker from the Netherlands.

For over 20 years, I’ve helped DJs, artists, entrepreneurs and businesses turn ideas into meaningful creative work.

From visual identities & artwork to merchandise & digital content, every project starts by understanding the people behind it.

I never limit myself to one medium. From physical artwork to digital design, I choose whatever best serves the idea.

Technology keeps evolving, but experience, intuition, curiosity and good judgment remain at the heart of meaningful design.

After more than 20 years, I’m still learning, still creating and still excited about what’s next. taken in Netherlands by @ruudvaneijkdesign

As part of the MODA South America brand system, I developed a dedicated visual direction for MODA Argentina, inspired by local nature, culture and animals.

I explored birds and feather structures native to Argentina, using them as inspiration for visual language, textures, color applications and motion assets.

AI-assisted research and visual testing helped shape and refine different themes, styles and creative directions before arriving at the final identity.

This project goes far beyond logo design. The complete pack included visual research, multiple logotypes & logomarks, color palettes, textures, background animations for social content and a wide range of extra brand assets.

This carousel showcases a selection of visuals created for MODA Argentina and demonstrates how research can be translated into a distinctive and cohesive visual identity.

Recently, a collage video I created with my son passed 1 million views in two weeks. Seeing how people responded to it made me think about another project that has always been one of my favorites: "What's Inside Your Head?"

For that project, I collaborated with 19 talented children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Together, we turned their dreams, wishes, memories, handwriting and drawings into a large triptych artwork.

Looking back, both projects have a lot in common. They're colorful, collage-like, built around composition and, most importantly, collaboration.

What stands out to me is that in both cases I wasn't working with a client, a brief or a brand. I was working with real people. My son in one project and a group of artists in the other.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but these are also two projects I'm very proud of. Not just because of the results, but because they were built together with people who brought their own ideas, stories and creativity to the table.

It's making me realize that collaborating with real people is becoming more and more important in the work I choose to make. taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @ruudvaneijkdesign

Meet one of THE designers behind the Golden Era of Hardstyle: @ruudvaneijkdesign

From 2009 to 2013, Ruud’s work expanded rapidly into trailers, aftermovies, show videos, logos and merch.

Together with cameraman Dirk Kemmer, he worked on video projects for many artists and events. In 2009, Ruud helped with the official Defqon.1 aftermovie. In 2010, he also collaborated on the official Tomorrowland aftermovie.

2010–2011 brought projects such as the campaign artwork for Q-dance’s X-Qlusive Italy, work for Brennan Heart and Zatox and the logo design for Epic Cinema (the production company that later grew into an international powerhouse).

The visual style evolved again. Dark, moody designs made a small comeback, balanced with playful concepts like the X-Qlusive Italy pizza poster and trailer plus other bold/funny Q-dance visuals.

2012 introduced more artist-focused visuals: promo artwork for Psyko Punkz (back when they were still a duo), projects for F8trix, Isaac’s Hardstyle Sessions and campaign artwork for The Prophet.

From 2011 onwards, Ruud was increasingly approached by EDM artists outside the Hardstyle scene, while continuing work for Scantraxx, D-Block & S-te-Fan, Wildstylez and many more.

Explore this chapter of Ruud’s graphics, campaigns and artist visuals in this carousel.

Stay tuned for part 7.

In 2022, Pixel & Frosti started as one little idea.

Together with illustrator @4ever.ill I created a children’s print book about happiness (joy, contentment & fulfillment).

What started as a dream project turned into a successful crowdfunding campaign. Together, we donated €1500 to Make-A-Wish Netherlands.

But ever since, one question keeps coming back:

“When is book 2 coming?” 👀

This year?

Imperfect lines, palm-leaf references and a handcrafted visual language reflect the playful, expressive spirit found across Latin American environments and creative scenes.

This post highlights the logotype, mascot mark and custom typeface developed for lyric video use as part of the wider identity system.

More brand assets and visuals created for upcoming MODA video projects coming soon.
