WE GOT MARRIED!

Three short years ago, we began exchanging light-hearted banter at each other’s Instagram stories—days turned to weeks, weeks to months. One evening, we decided to meet for the first time. From that moment on, you never left my side. Neither of us was wise enough to see an eternity on the horizon.

We are like two sides of the same coin. Despite our differences, we share the same values and support each other’s back, and when things seem to be falling apart, we’ve always put each other first.

Six months before our third anniversary, you accepted my proposal to take my hand in marriage, ensuring I would be the luckiest and happiest man in the universe.

Since the beginning, your family has been so kind and accepting, and the home in their hearts has offered me so much warmth. I have been so excited to join such a beautiful family.

October 11, 2024, Friday. We held our wedding in front of our closest family and friends. My heart was bursting at its seams, and I could never imagine how difficult it was to speak during our reception speech. Despite the hustle and bustle, we made it through onto our Honeymoon. About ten days in, I would like to thank you for being a humorous man, a spectacular friend, a dutiful partner, a loyal boyfriend, a patient fiance, a light-hearted soulmate, and now my husband.

Thank you to all the people who made our wedding possible. Thank you to everyone who came out to attend our wedding and reception. Thank you to all the people who supported us throughout our lives. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Honeyfund Registry to make our dream Honeymoon come true.

Another chapter is just around the corner. This past weekend marked another ceremonious occasion: taking part in a nursing pinning ceremony, walking the WGU Seattle Commencement stage as a member of Class 2026, and earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After ten years in EMS, I have dedicated the last 2.5 years to earning my BSN while working full-time at the Fire Department. This achievement was not mine alone, as it was only made possible by the people I was surrounded by. For the unwavering support of my spouse @sebastian_carlson01, thank you so much for being there for me in every way. Thank you to my family, my in-laws, and my friends who listened and kept me afloat. Thank you to every nurse who poured into me and showed me how to be compassionate and well-rounded. Thank you to every co-worker who covered me during my clinical hours and calmed my testing anxiety through patient ears and a supportive voice. Thank you to every instructor and Mentor who never stopped believing in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. Thank you to @westerngovernorsu for providing the tools I needed to succeed and the flexible framework that enabled me to complete my degree. With my second degree in hand, I feel empowered to continue my education to further enhance my ability to improve patient outcomes throughout my career. To my younger self, I say: “You can do hard things. If there is no pathway forward, build one. If the material is too heavy to carry, then ask for help. Surround yourself with the people who want to be a part of a community you'd be proud of.” Lastly, thank you to everyone who takes the time to read these updates. Recap! We have had our third trip to Japan in the last nine months, and my spouse and I are having our first marriage anniversary next month. The paramedic life is busy, and nursing school has made things more challenging, but honestly, it's a struggle of my own choosing, so 🤷🏻‍♂️ The doggos are thriving. The fam is alive and kicking.
