Despite the threat of rain (which never materialized), the @vsorchestra Symphony At Sunset went off without a hitch last night. The new location, David Lam Park, provided a lovely waterfront setting for this annual Vancouver tradition. Orcas! Thanks to the @whalelocator app, we’ve been able to keep an eye out for every type of whale coming through Vancouver, including humpbacks, grays, and these transients known as Biggs Killer Whales. Once they come into Vancouver Harbor, they have to come back out under the Lions Gate Bridge, since the waterway dead ends past the harbor in Indian Arm. So when we saw them heading west toward the bridge, we headed out to Stanley Park to wait for them, and all five of them did not disappoint! 🫍🫍🫍🫍🫍 #orca #orcas #whales #whalewatching🐳 #vancouverbc by @rvgeeks

We took it to the limit! Zoom in to see if you can spot our rigs (us and @mytsolar in our matching @outdoorsrv_oregon Creekside 19MKS campers) right on the very edge of the canyon rim. In our continuing winter of hopscotch caravanning, we’ve reconnected with our friends Tom & Ely for a visit to an epic spot we could never get our motorhome anywhere near. While we’ve mostly been taking our @outdoorsrv_oregon 19MKS into rugged boondocking locations, there’s a whole ’nother world of camping that we can now access due to downsizing to a smaller rig: far more Nat’l Forest, Nat’l Park and Nat’l Monument campgrounds, like this one in Chiricahua National Monument in SE Arizona. We’re still dry camping, but our 43’ motorhome would have absolutely zero chance of getting in here. Another benefit of #hopscotchcaravanning is the shared research that multiple people do to find locations like this. Tom & Cait @mortonsonthemove found this awesome place that we’d likely never have visited otherwise. Since we’re hopscotching, we beat them to the punch, visiting @chiricahuanps while they were exploring somewhere else. After seeing how gorgeous it is here, we of course told them they have to visit too! Even though our campsite was pretty treed, we had plenty of power thanks to our @mytsolar and @battlebornbatteries system. Snowbirding…. Boondocking…… Hopscotch Caravanning…… Combining these three things = Our Favourite Way To RV — A warm winter spent off-grid with great friends, enjoying places of dramatic natural beauty. If you haven’t RVed this way, we highly recommend it! (For those not familiar with the term, “hopscotch caravanning” means travelling with friends, but not necessarily staying together all the time). We shared this great spot with Tom & Cait @mortonsonthemove and Tom & Ely @mytsolar after camping with each of them separately over the previous couple of weeks. Shortly after this photo was taken, we all went our separate ways, but expect to reconnect again soon. A huge bonus of our @outdoorsrv_oregon Creekside 19MKS is the ability to get into much more remote areas than we could reach in our motorhome. Quartzsite is better with friends 🌵We were able to meet up with our friends Peter and John and camp with them in the most beautiful, isolated boondocking spot!
