More infrared joy featuring the @honda prelude for @roadandtrack earlier this year. I love getting this look straight out of camera but it really is about finding just the right color vehicle based on what wavelengths you're shooting around. This 'Boost Blue' from Honda is perfect for the classic Aerochrome look, and you'll notice that a lot of my best IR work deals with blue cars. Last month I was showing someone a bit of work like this over beers and was asked how I "prompted for that look?" It took me a sec. He wasn't kidding, nor was he trying to insult me. I asked with genuine curiosity what gave it away as AI to him. Maybe the term AI is replacing ideas like "cgi" or "photoshopped" in the cultural lexicon, I'm not sure yet. Anyway, it's depressing. The whole point of doing this type of work be it photography, video, cgi etc. is to apply the creative process to these beautiful machines and share the best of it. Especially when there is some fresh challenge or learning moment in the process. With CG work for instance I LOVE simulating all these materials and seeing how the light disperses thru them, finding good angles on the cars that are tough to get in a practical environment, making unaffordably large lighting diagrams, etc. Circumnavigating the best and sweetest part of the work just to get the output isn't just sad it's pointless. It defeats the real purpose making art. I will never do that ya! This is and will remain an AI turd free zone 🤝🫂 #McLaren #F1 #Pagani #Huayra by @rvt3

When the theme of the issue is "Weird," it's time to topsy-turvy things a bit, right?

Thankfully, the spectral visionary himself, 📸 @rvt3, answered the call and brought his infrared magic to "Uncanny Valley", where he turned trees red and flipped the expected on its head.

This story is probably what it would be like if sherbet flavors were photos...

Sherbet or not, this series in seriously wicked with a side of wowsa. 🤯 Thank you, Richard, for an INCREDIBLE shoot!

Mighty Mini 🥹💙 @gordonmurrayautomotive stopped by casa @issimiofficial with their T.50 for some infrared fun during MCW. It was so nice to finally get some hands on time with this amazing lil spaceship. In person it all becomes clear that this is likely the greatest car of its generation. Simplicity and functionality ring out at every point of the construction and styling. A totally harmonized user experience. Looking forward to sharing more soon. This August, 20 years since my first Monterey Car Week and the fateful @ferrari Enzo photoshoot which helped launch my career as a car shooter. It's a wonderful place to visit in my mind, when we could wake up at 5am and take a crack at hwy 1 blissfully devoid of minivans cops and construction, right foot down and enveloped in marine layer thick enough to dampen the glorious staccato wail of that big 6L V12 right behind our heads. I included a few previously unpublished images I made that year at Concourse on the Avenue which illustrate just how much things have changed -- stuff you would now only see on the lawn at Pebble parked there on the street and no spotters or people using cameras at all really 🤯 Also threw in one from Concorso, a fantastic @jaylenosgarage moment with Sir Stirling Moss, and a look out the window above FL500 in the mighty Citation X, zipping along just below the speed of sound. Been fun to reflect on all this as I spend the start of the month firming up plans and prepping gear for another big year at Pebble. Looking forward to seeing all my friends out there this year and making another round of memories in one of my favorite places 😌 taken in Monterey, California by @rvt3
