A rare great shot of me in Brighton on the Bank Holiday weekend. Spotted and sent to me by @tartancharlie (because I don't have Facebook) and taken by @dammophotography who is such a credit to these events, shooting away from sun up to way after sun down, so we can all relive the moment. Big thanks and much appreciation. It was a great weekend thanks to @new.untouchables and the Brighton Dolphins for putting on a great APSA ride and seeing many great friends made through the scooter scene down there. Including @discodezscooters, whose lovely scooter creations had a well deserved sweep of the concourse prizes. Here's to next year. by @rw.hildreth

I love this nomadic life, but I do miss the scooters when the sun starts to shine. Won't be long now until I'm back around for this summer and enjoying some aimless long rides on these. Want to spruce the winter model up, maybe pop the panels on, set of balloon grips and I have a set of old jug handle crash bars that need a rechrome, I always threaten to fit them but can't bring myself to drill the leggies 😂 maybe I'll keep it minimal.

What a great scootering year 2025 was, from the streets of Tokyo to the shores of Brighton, I've met so many new people this year through these little scooters and made some great friends. It always surprises me how great a community this scene can create. Thanks to all of the people that made this year a good one. Looking forward to 2026 already. Happy Holidays.

The rolling home doesn't get much of a look in on here, so here it is. 1987 US market Vanagon (with a 1.9TD AAZ from a Jetta in it) first sold in California and made its way here via Ireland. Today it had a new coolant tank fitted, because it's not just Lambrettas that are attention seekers. All good now. Currently on our 6th week in this.

Just a few more nights and I'll be swapping the van for the scooter and heading off this weekend on a little Cotswolds tour with @damonmcadam - then back in the van. We've been loving van life for the past 6-7 weeks.

Little bit of chatter from the gearbox section that stopped when the clutch was pulled in. Time to open it up. No metal or junk in the oil, shimmed well, everything is tight and torqued. There's a tiny bit of clutch movement and first gear slightly kisses the selector in neutral but only when you push the first gear. Nothing I'm overly concerned about to be honest. I've chucked a 17T in there to make 17/47 with the 125 box. Still not feeling as good as my S3 with the exact same set up. Decided to keep it like this for this season, then I'm dropping the engine out, ditching the Indian gear selector and popping in a casa one then match the casa layshaft I have. Drop in a 150 box I have on the shelf, change the gearing to suit. Probably strip, clean and rebuild the top end with new rings too. Oh and swap out the BGM engine blocks for some slightly softer ones as it vibrates a lot. Love to tinker.

Flying back to the UK tomorrow after sadly reaching our Schengen quota of 90 days in 180, it's been a lovely 3 months in Riga, Tallinn and Helsinki. We'll be bumming about in our VW camper for the summer and planning our next escape. I'll obviously playing with scooters too.

As I'm in Québec now, in snow and minus double digits I thought it was appropriate to share the Winter Model. Eibar made these over 64/65 winter period and produced an LI125, 150 and TV175. Changing the carb and adding the turning mudguard and their distinctive headset in an effort to boost sales and interest whilst the Italians sold the series 3 models. It was short lived. Mine is the LI125 model from Colin Bunn's collection and purchased through Disco Dez, rebuilt and restored by myself. And I even still have the factory fitted legshield spare wheel carrier.
