🔴⚫ Please welcome our latest addition to our throws squad for the 2025/2026 season, Ava Wierda! 🔴⚫

Ava joins the Redhawks from nearby Batavia, NY, where she is a standout thrower at Batavia High School for the Blue Devils.

During her visit, she loved how tight-knit and welcoming the community on campus was. She ended up choosing Roberts because she felt that it was a perfect fit, looking for a college rooted in faith with good athletic programs. She was also very fond of the nursing department and had very eye-opening talks with Coach McCown and the Redhawks coaching staff, which helped with her decision.

Ava hopes to set new personal records in all her throwing events and qualify for the NCAA DII Championships during her time at Roberts. Starting track and field during her Sophomore year of high school and seeing plenty of growth in the weight room, she gave throwing a try and fell in love with the sport.

In her free time, Ava loves spending time with her dogs, hiking, being outdoors, and traveling all together, hoping to someday live in Europe.

Now introducing the latest addition to our Throws squad for the 2025/2026 season, William Miller!

William joins us from Cobleskill-Richmondville and will be reunited with former high school teammate Thomas McConnelee. During his visit, William really enjoyed the small campus and friendly community.

Some of William’s goals for his collegiate career are to perform well at the East Coast Conference Championships each season, and be the best teammate he can be. William initially joined the track team in high school to stay in shape for the Fall Football season, but started to really enjoy track and improve drastically in the throws. Ever since, William has taken on track as his main sport and is constantly working to set new marks in the throws.

William loves lifting and throwing in his spare time, he also loves playing and watching Football, and collecting Legos and sports cards. He is very proud of his collection.

The newest member of the throws squad for the 2025/2026 season from nearby Greece Arcadia High School, Jaylen DeCoste!

Jaylen felt right at home on campus during his visit and ended up choosing to enroll because it allowed him to be close to his family and pursue his dreams. In his first few seasons, Jaylen hopes to establish a strong foundation that he can build upon and thrive off of.

In his spare time, Jaylen loves to cook and listen to and play music. Jaylen was born on April Fools day and is always looking to make others laugh and smile.

Please welcome our first thrower for the 2025/2026 season, Bruno Werder!

Bruno joins the Redhawks all the way from Saint Johns, FL. As soon as Bruno arrived on campus, he fell in love with the environment. All the staff and current Redhawks were very welcoming to him and Bruno especially loved all the wonderful athletic facilities campus offers.

Bruno ended up choosing Roberts because it had a great homeland security program, a standout throwing squad, and a religion based education. He is looking forward to getting to know all his teammates and professors and building strong relationships and friendships with them all. Bruno also hopes to improve his marks and adapt to the heavier implements at the college level.

During his Freshman year of high school, Bruno excelled in both the sprints and the throws, but had a greater passion for throwing because it challenged his strength, focus, and technique, tacked on with a sense of accomplishment after every throw.

In his free time, Bruno enjoys traveling with his family, alpine skiing, fishing, and working on cars.

McConnelee took 2nd place in Hammer Throw, and 1st place in Shot Put and Discus Throw!
