Originally I was just going to caption this post with “I just graduated!” or something like that. But then I realized that this moment deserves so much more than just that.

From the outside, most people don’t understand how much this moment means to me. Ever since I was little, I never struggled an unbearable amount academically and I had the most amazing support system. But what wasn’t shown through social media or by looking at me on the outside, was the version of me that was drowning in mental health in so many ways. Through panic attacks that left me feeling paralyzed at times, to loosing every ounce of hope I had left and feeling like there was nothing left for me to continue for, I had no intention on ever holding a diploma with my name on it. The past 6 years of my life were years that I have had to fight with everything in me for. While there was so much good in my life, there were times where I could not go to school for weeks at a time and times when I felt like I had nothing left in me. Times when we were so close to switching to home-schooling, because of how desperate we were for me to get better. Times when I truly believed with everything in me that there was no possible way that I would make it to this point in my life - yet here we are.

Through all the medications, therapy appointments, safety plans, and coping mechanisms, I can officially say that I made it. While these years of my life are ones that I would probably never choose to relive, I am so incredibly grateful that I have made it to a point in my life that was once unimaginable.
