A decade

This birthday weekend, I'm feeling quite reflective. The end of this summer marks my 10th year in LA. I moved with no flagship art school experience, no storyboard portfolio, no friends, no network. Just a family member who worked in VFX, where I got my start.

I worked on live action shows, I spammed every networking event I could, I took classes. I made friends. I drew every day for 6 months straight, slept at 4am, woke up at 4pm and repeated.

I would hardly recognize the kid I was when I got out here. But he would be proud. and in his gut he will have always known he'd be here.

Here is a woefully brief highlight reel of my life and career over the last decade. If you've been here since then, thank you. If you're new here, I'm happy we met.

i love kingdom hearts more than most things (if you couldn't already tell). This weekend was a WHIRLWIND and an incredible time to be a fan! This series shaped me as a person, its lessons, its relationships, its silliness and its earnestness. Even through all the inconsistencies and forced waiting, I've stuck around since 2002.

Such inspiring news, it put me back in my childhood bedroom when i drew exclusively with graphite on paper. I got every "professional" tool i could to really dial in on graphite as my medium. I wanted to draw as a tribute to that teenage self who was deeply inspired by Nomura-sama's drawings. I even signed it on the bottom with my signature like i used to back then. So excited for this next year! May your heart be your guiding key!

Surprise sketch post!

I drew this back when Zenless Zone Zero came out, and I accepted that I probably won't clean these up so here ya go! haha. Burger girl Anby was my fave when it came out...I really miss the urban-fantasy retro-futurism of Season 1 ;-; by @ryagumon

Hiya! Long time no see.

Now that I'm out of work I'm sifting through some of favorite work. This animatic sample is from Chibiverse season 3 and the last time that I got to do anything involving Hailey! ♡

Benji redesign incoming!! 🐶

I was posed with the question: what if Benji was a blind box character. so I redesigned him as a vinyl figure! it was initially meant to just be a thought experiment, but I sorta liked seeing how he came out and honestly his old design was getting a bit stale 10 years later hahaha. what do y'all think?
